A woman died Thursday morning at Chicago O'Hare International Airport after getting caught in a baggage carousel, officials told ABC News.
The woman, who has not yet been publicly identified, was 57, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The woman was a member of the public and not a worker at the airport, according to a spokesperson for the Department of Labor.
Emergency responders were called to Terminal 5 at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday following reports of a woman "pinned in machinery," the Chicago Fire Department said.
Upon arriving to the scene, they found the woman "entangled in the conveyer belt system used to move baggage," fire officials said.
Medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

And don't you know some lawyer will take this case and make it the airports fault that this person entered a restricted area and got herself killed.

One of the most infuriating things about this country's court system. SO STUPID. No personal accountability anymore.

Well, when you have tens of thousands of lawyers entering the job market year after year it's only inevitable these things will happen.
I can vividly remember back when the Yellow Pages phone books were a household item for businesses in my area. Open the book to "Attorneys" and it was page after page of lawyers------literally in the thousands in the N.O. area alone. Maybe it's finally reached the saturation point and they have to invent reasons to sue and bring cases to court to justify their existence.
Between the Ambulance Chasers and Personal Injury lawyers that now have the ability to advertise, it's pretty clear many of them have no shame.
Oh, and don't look for politicians to try to do something about the situation.
You know why???? The vast majority of politicians have law degrees.

Prolly laid down on belt to sleep. And the morning crew hit the button

I was reading that the homeless have been sleeping in airports. Maybe she was one of those, or was trying to steal. Airport should not be held liable in any way.

I kinda doubt O'Hare's baggage carousels quit running. That is one of the U.S.'s busiest airports.

Or she was a thief, went in to help herself to stuff in luggage that was delayed in transit, and decided she wanted to check some rich looking luggage further out on a shut down carousel. Hit the on button and the luggage resisted.
Because innocent who just happened to wander into an area closed to the public at 2:30 am just doesn't play.

There was a homeless black lady living in MSY years ago. She got evicted after threatening some people.

Family will sue the airport and airline for lack of sufficient signage warning stupid people to not do stupid shite.

I'll put this one on the "Ways I'd Prefer Not to Die" list right behind the GE employee from north AL who got decapitated a few weeks ago.
