have a friend who is of course a radio talk show host. Really thinks because elections are computerized to a large degree, they can be easily rigged. All they have to do is switch jump drives or destroy them. They can dump the electronic poll books or change them. Said what happens November will not matter because Democrats will just see how many votes they need in states where the deadlines are waived and then manufacture more votes in the computers.

What do you say to that?

Explain how Trump broke the winning total all time of 75 million votes and lost his re-election, losing by nearly 6 million to a guy who hid behind a mask in a basement

All we hear is election fraud from many people, the Texas AG recently

mail in his how it was stolen last time

I mean, major data breaches are a regular occurrence and what we pass as election security is like an SNL skit.

The entire process is seriously lacking internal controls. I don't think that can be legitimately denied by anyone. There are so many places where manipulation can take place it is almost possible to belive that elections are fair.

Nothing connected to the Internet is secure. High security paper ballots with ID and in-person voting make it harder to cheat.

You promote him from friend to mentor. He's trying to teach you basic reality while you still click on every link sent to you via email.

Wake up, grandma. "Computerized" does not mean secure.

I would say that he should also be concerned about the mail-in vote fraud.

He's not wrong, but "easily" is subjective.

Any system which is online is susceptible to some sort of attack/penetration. What helps you and I out is that we are lone individuals who are generally not deemed worthy of attention by sophisticated hackers. We blend into the larger fabric of the internet population.

The higher your profile, the more likely you are to be specifically targeted, rather than just the victim of a widely casted phishing net. If you are a Microsoft, Chase, FBI, etc. then you are constantly under attack.

Most incursions these days happen due to end-user actions. It's not just sending a Nigerian prince your banking account information so he can send you money for you to hold onto, it's getting opening an email seemingly from a co-worker asking for help by reviewing a project for them. It's going to a site running poorly policed banner ads while you don't have shite for A/V. It's someone bringing a thumb drive into work and plugging it into their work computer.

If you have a group of people in certain positions who are look at politics as nothing more than a "win-at-all-costs team sport", then yes. We saw with the Dominion software in 2020 that ballots can absolutely be digitally changed after they have been cast. We also saw that these machines which were supposed to be either on a closed network or air-gapped had internet access and that those machines could have been accessed at any time during the election.

Electronic voting has turned out to be an Amway, of sorts. It sounds good and looks good on paper, but the human factor causes the actual implementation and use to be worse than what we had prior.

He almost certainly believes they're rigged everytime his candidate loses.

There's a word for people like that: morons.

Is this wrong?

The head of Milwaukee County elections “lost” a jump drive in 2020 which contained the results of the absentee voter tabulation. Good news, though. They found it!
