if by "nailed" you mean "obliterated" (like everyone else that tries, then I agree

Couldn’t be any worse than the original cartoon Gambit. He said “Cher” like the singer’s name.

He did terrible and that was part of the joke

My of Cajun descent wife was incredibly annoyed. I had to explain the character and the Tatum situation with Gambit afterwards to her. For someone that virtually nothing offends, she gets weirdly bent out of shape over Cajun caricatures

I knew nothing of Gambit and I asked why the character had a Cajun accent. He did fine.

Isn’t Gambit supposed to be from New Orleans?

I live in Lafayette. I haven't seen the movie but I've been talking to people all week who've said he nailed it.

Southern Comfort is currently the gold standard for Cajun accents, though.

Yall keep hating, but I've spent many nights in Avoyelles Parish around a booray table full of baws with that accent. He did fine.

“Who is your dialect coach? the Minions?”

The joke was that it was bad but good at the same time. He did it perfectly. Can he talk a whole movie like that without feeling like he’s Daniel Craig in Knives Out? Probably not.

Yes, I took the accent as being creole...which..it wasn't that bad. It definitely wasn't cajun plains or down the bayou which I think is what people expected, but it definitely sounded like someone trying to emulate an accent from one of the river parishes. Almost a mash of the different ones with a bit of southern comfort mixed in.

Wow. That was just awful and insulting in all honesty.

Guy should never be Gambit again.
