Henry McNamara, one of the world's most influential young entrepreneurs according to Forbes, claimed he heard from an NBC executive that Snoop is getting paid £393,000 ($500,000) every day - plus expenses, in case that was not enough.

Meanwhile, German outlet Bild reportedly heard from an NBC employee that he could earn up to £11.78million ($15m) across the Games, with a TV ratings bonus in his contract

It's absurd money to you and me, but I'm not surprised. He's been tasked with being THE face of the Olympics on NBC. That's going to be a hefty cost.

it's worth it to get the viewers he's bringing in that ordinarily wouldn't care at all about the olympics

This.

Was at the hospital the other day and while waiting for my Dad to come back from his colonoscopy, the nurses were all talking about Snoop at the Olympics. One even dropped a "honestly I'm just watching to see what he does at this point".

And NBC could have had Lolo Jones in their coverage for a plane ticket and hotel rooms but they passed.

I'm not even surprised, he held the torch, has been present at damn near every event, etc. It's obivous this is going far beyond him doing all this for fun.

There's times he's good and overall I can't complain, but he's also very far from being in my top 25-50 of personalities I'd rather see including a lot of other olympians that aren't nearly as wealthy or expensive as him.

They make so much money from the Voice (where he’s going to be a coach next season), I’m sure they can justify it.

They're going to spend $20m for an attention whore. There's no way he's making a dent in viewer numbers. NBC should have just cut a check for $25k to every Olympian. Would be money better spent.

I don't want to hear NBC ever again complain about the cost of broadcasting big sporting events like the Olympics, Tour de France, etc. If you can toss money in the shredder like this, then just stop complaining.

NBC has spent the majority of the Olympics putting celebrities on the screen, who don't care about the athletes or the sports. They just want to whore for the camera.

When's the last hit album he putt out....or murder charge?

America's houseguest. MSM has gone all in on the hip-hop demo the last decade from ESPN to NBC....hell, even Martha Stewart.

Apparently he's a terrible human being IRL.

But as he admits, he smokes 100 blunts a day so maybe that makes him giddy for Martha....Snoop is now fully on appearance tours, you see him at sporting events he has no connection to....what does he even do for NBC?

NBC paid $12 BILLION to host the Olympics. Snoop as the celebrity guest will bring new eyes to the TV. Same reason they had Peyton Manning & Kelly Clarkson host the opening ceremonies and comment on various Olympic sporting events.

Because the number of viewers matters. But only so far. Are the viewers attracted to him the kind that will be driven to buy the advertisers' merchandise?
Will the advertisers see a jump in their sales?
Will Martha Stewart see a jump (more likely IMO)

And where does he go after this to build on his new found Q?

Every ad on Peacock and my NBC local networks has been for Kamala.

I am sure this was a bright idea from some Exec to be able to ponder during an election cycle that Olympic coverage is doing more to widen their traditional demographics (even if it really doesn’t do much).

All about the optics in a corporate marketing meeting in a board room.

Now, Flavor Flav is top notch .

No doubt that controversial opening ceremony cost NBC a lot of viewers.

This Olympics have been a huge ratings win for NBC. There’s numerous theories as to why, but Snoop is always listed as on of the reasons.

I’m not a fan of the cancel culture - but watching him pumping up women’s sports for NBC makes me want to puke. Almost every song he had was degrading as hell to women.

Whenever the inevitable womens' groups come forward after the games complaining about "equal pay", "equitable outcomes", etc., can Snoop Dog pay them out of his pocket?

Fair point. But I pointed out to my wife the other night that he's still married to his high school girlfriend.

I'll admit I haven't listened to any of his more recent stuff, does he still go on about bitches and hoes like he used to? My guess is he would have moved on from that.

My favorite tweet on this was a guy saying his mother said she was really loving Snoop on the Olympics and he had to point out to her she grounded him for buying one of his CD's
