Capacity was 67,500

The seats were wood, not aluminum

Adult male fans wore a suit and tie to the game

Freshmen were required to wear pajamas and beanie hats

If you lived in Lafayette, you left around 10 AM so you could stop at the little capial restaurant in Krotz Springs for lunch and to play the slot machines since there was only 1 bridge.

You crossed the river using the Huey Long bridge or used the ferry and usually had time to stop at the Pastime Lounge around 2 pm since kickoff was 8 PM.

Sometimes Alex Box was used for practice.

I was 11 for my first TS experience in 2000 vs Tennessee. I honestly remember more about how shitty that west upper deck and its escalator was than the game itself.

Capacity was 67,500 - Yes - I was Freshman in 1964

The seats were wood, not aluminum - Yep

Adult male fans wore a suit and tie to the game - Never noiced at least not in student section. Of course, I was 17 Years old and did not own a coat or tie.

Freshmen were required to wear pajamas and beanie hats - First game only - It was a ROTC thing. Cadets Formed up in field where Maravich Center is today and marched into stadium - Game was with A&M. LSU won

I relate to these. I grew up in Magnolia Woods and remember the 1964 Rice game as my first (it wasn't). John Ferguson was on the radio. Sid Crocker was "Dr. #420...please call the medical exchange" over the PA. We always lost to Bama. Bert Jones to Andy Hamilton was my favorite play.

During the festivities for that 1947 A&M game we stole twenty-22 of their ROTC boots and they in turn greased our flag pole and flew their flag. Dean made us return their boots. Two days later we got their damn flag down. Remember the cold night football night in pj's but don't remember it being traditionally the A&M game.

I don't remember the wood seats in the stadium. That was before my time but, we did have a porch swing made from the wood benches that were in TS.

Sid Crocker paging doctors by their assigned number via the PA system during games since pagers did not exist.

I was 11 years old when I attended my first LSU game vs Alabama. The year 1965 and we lost to Alabama 31-7. Two months after Hurricane Betsy and Jean Dixon predicted a chlorine barge that sunk in the Mississippi River would implode during the game. My buddy and I were actually freaking out until the predicted time passed. For those of you to young to remember — Jean Dixon made many predictions and her claim to fame was the one where she predicted a a young US President would be shot. This all from memory that may need to be fact checked. Not the game though, it was 31-7.

In 1972, I was 8 years old. I was sitting next to my Dad during a game and they called “Doctor #387, please call medical exchange!” The man in a suit and tie sitting behind us said “I hope they don’t call my number tonight.”

I looked up at my Dad and said “one day they’ll be calling my number.”

TS had no upper decks
And one many forget, smoking was allowed in TS. Sometimes the smoke was so thick, TS looked like a chimney, especially if it was a hot muggy night.
Also, besides men in suit and tie, women wore dresses and high heels.

I was there for 12 years when the capacity was 67,500 and experienced some of the loudest games I have been to.
Notre Dame 1971 and Ole Miss 1972 are two that come to mind.

I’m pretty sure the games used to start at 7:30. At least in the late seventies and early eighties. I do remember the wooden bleachers though. When they started replacing them with the metal my grandpa got his hands on some of the wood and made a porch swing with our four seat numbers that we sat on in the stadium across the front of it

Went to my first game when I was 11. saw the Tigers beat Hardin Simmons. Saw several games that 1958 championship season. Got spoiled.

Lived in refurbished dorm in North Stadium as a freshman in 1964.

Many Good Times in that stadium over the years.

The games were at 7:30 when I started going in the mid 1960s but prior to that they used to start at 8:00. I am pretty sure I have seen ticket stubs to the Billy Cannon run game that said October 31, 1959 at 8:00.

Well there was about 350,000 people in the stands that night, so I could see why.
