Looking into getting a dual dash cam for forward and rear. Amazon of course says all brands are great and the price differences are wildly different. What are some good brands and brands to stay away from?

Go with a Russian model. They always have the best footage.

I bought a Thinkware. It's a reputable brand and is a Korean company.

The garmin mini is what I recommend, more expensive than the Chinese knockoffs but it has a good app for downloading footage

I bought a chinese one off amz that worked for about 3 years before quitting.

Wasn't crazy about having a download a chinese app to operate it. Will try and not buy chinse when I replace.

Thinking about one since my SIL got her car totaled by car that ran a red light and claimed that she ran the red light.

I like my VanTrue; Have had it for a couple of years. Provides great video images in front and rear from windshield viewpoint. BUT. . . The one time I really needed it, there was NO video of my getting rear-ended in stop and go traffic. I could not believe it. Video was available minutes before, and minutes after I was hit. NOT the hit though. Like it blanked out for a moment or two when I was hit. Hell, the camera was knocked forward, but no video of the event.

My question is, when will they make a wireless one? The cables running across my dash or up to my rearview make it untenable for me. Does anyone know if they have found a solution for that yet?

Not a wireless solution, but one that supposedly can plug into the rearview mirror. I have no experience with it. This video just happened to show up on youtube for me the other day

I can't tell if you are serious or not? A wireless one would have to be manually turned on, which is a bad idea. The best set ups are auto turned on with the ignition so that its on anytime you drive. I'd hate to turn it on every time I got in and out, and recharging or adding batteries would be a pita.

My amazon knockoff dashcam has been working great for 2 years now. It has a gps on it also. I spent a whopping $80 on it.

I bought a Garmin mini with the Dongar Technologies adapter that plugs into the power of my rear view mirror. No cords to route and it hides directly behind my rear view.

Dongar Tech makes plug in adapters that y out to usb so that you can power any USB powered dashcam from a powered rearview mirror.
