Carried off the court, unable to put much pressure on it.

He was the leading scorer with 19 points in the first half.

Game is on CNBC right now

Unfortunately, that looked like an achilles injury to me.

I’ve literally thought Jose popped an achilles at least twice in his Pels career. On both occasions he put some duck tape on it and came back. He was then day to day for a while or missed a week after the game.

Dude seems to live with ankle problems.

Jose has always been a little dramatic.

Good sign it’s not an Achilles tear

Pels should shut him down for this meaningless tourney

Does anyone remember what Curry did to fix his recurring ankle problems? They were bad enough that his 2nd contract was below max which is how the Warriors were able to get KD.

I found this on how Steph corrected ankle problems.

He did a complete re-reconstruction IIRC. Using cadaver tendons because he kept spraining it.

Yeah he came back and played in the 2nd half, but it definitely limited his effectiveness. He was on pace to drop an efficient 40. Not sure what he ended up with, but he couldn’t dominate the way he was before the ankle injury.

Gotta love Jose though. Dude brings it 24/7 on the basketball court. Easily my favorite Pelican of the last decade or so.

FYI, Curry didn't have the cadaver surgery. When they went in they found his tendons to be structurally good and just did some scrapping of scar tissue. It doesn't say it, but i'm sure they put the mesh around the tendon and secured it with pins to the bone on each end to further strengthen it and not allow it to stretch so easily.

quote:

When Curry eventually blacked out on the operating table, however, a rather remarkable thing happened. A recent battery of strength tests, nerve tests, X-rays, MRIs and CAT scans had all failed to resolve why his ankle kept buckling. But a set of stress X-rays conducted midsleep, when pain can't impact motion, formally ruled out any structural damage to the ligaments. A 1-ounce HD camera snaked into Curry's subtalar and ankle joints produced images of thick, sticky bands of scar tissue -- "like crab meat," Ferkel says -- as well as inflamed tissue, bone spurs and chips of cartilage. To anyone else, orthopedic seafood might be revolting. To Curry, "it was good news," he says. "The least intrusive outcome." A motorized device called a shaver scraped and vacuumed all of it away in less than 90 minutes. No zombie tendons necessary. Projected recovery time: three to four months..

quote:

"He was turning his ankle in completely nontraditional, crazy ways," Warriors general manager Bob Myers says. One time, Curry turned it while hopping into a passing lane during a preseason game against the Lakers.

Same thing happened to me in high school. Didn't step on anyones foot or anything, just moving laterally into a passing lane and rolled my ankle. Looked like a moron i'm sure.

I had the cadaver surgery done on my left ankle a few years ago, although i'm 40 and don't run around much anymore. They went in not knowing if they'd need to do the cadaver or not, as they'd see if it was needed once they got in there, and unfortunately it was needed. I probably sprained my ankle bad once a year from ages 16-24, bad as in can't walk for 2-3 days not some tweak where it just stiffens up and bothers you but you can suck it up. I never gave my ankle the proper healing so over time a lot of scar tissue built up and the tendon was so weak that the older i got the easier it was to sprain it. I don't play basketball anymore but i was spraining my ankle doing simple things. I was spraining my ankle just walking in the yard and stepping on somethign uneven. Then it got so bad it was "spraining" from just about anything. The tendon couldn't stay in the groove it's supposed to fit in b/c of all the calcium buildup in it, so it was slipping out of place and "spraining" constantly. The surgery to remove the tendon and put a cadaver tendon was a lot more intense than i thought. I couldn't walk for about 2 months, as in could'nt put any weight on my left foot at all. Started walking with a cane around 3 months and did that for probably a month before I could walk without one. I dont' think i felt comfortable running on my ankle until about 6 months out, and was way too scared to do any change of direction or lateral moves on it until closer to a year. Took over a year before i got any feeling back in my pinky toe, as that whole side of my foot from my pinky toe to my upper ankle felt weird for some time. It either had no feeling at all or it was super sensitive. Was told it was the nerves regenerating or whatever and it would be like that for a while.
It's been about 5 years since i did that surgery, and now my other ankle is giving me the same symptoms. Not looking forward to doing that again.
