quote: First I have heard of it. Looks very Japanime stylistically. Any Sarah or John Connor in this at all?
There's not a LOT of details yet, but based on the IMDB page:
There are no characters by those names; I suspect this is set in Japan as there are only 5 characters listed at the moment.
2 characters without names...
quote: Terminator (voiced by Timothy Olyphant - best known for playing Raylan Givens in Justified as well as the voice of Agent 47 in the Hitman games)
quote: Prophet (Ann Dowd - best known for Aunt Lydia Clements in The Handmaids Tale)
2 character with Asian names Eiko (Sonoya Mizuno - Mysaria in House of the Dragon) Kokoro (Rosario Dawson - in a billion things)
1 character with an American/English name Malcolm Lee (André Holland - I know him from S6 of American Horror Story, which might be the least season my wife and I watched)
Malcolm Lee appears to be the character that shows up the most in the trailer.
So far the story does not appear to center around the Connors nor does it appear to involve any of the new, crappier characters.
Plot synopsis (potential spoilers):
Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet's impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.

Then I’m in. The movies have mined both Connors and Kyle Reese to the point that I couldn’t give a shite anymore. New characters and storylines was definitely the way to go. If it is a Japanese production, the story is going to be a different take for sure.
Yes. Left us on that damn Cliffhanger that the T1000s are joining the humans against Skynet. I was so upset we didn't get a third season. Plus I liked the idea of a small woman terminator.
At least Netflix finally put out a trailer for this, it seems like I’ve been seeing it in the what to look forward to category for about a year. Hopefully it’s better than the new Suicide Squad show on MAX, I get people love Anime but it’s not for me.
It's totally a foreign (see what I did there) concept to him that anime does a way better job of having female leads be badass.
All the anime people I follow have said the show is fantastic and some of the best Terminator content in a long while. I've been meaning to catch it when I finish my backlog of manga I've been reading.
I haven’t watched it but I’ve heard some pretty good things about it. One consistent thing I’ve heard that isn’t great is that the terminators are kinda nerfed when going up against any of the protagonists. So there’s some plot armor going on there but other than it sounds solid

So like the movies?
I mean, two regular humans (only one that's actually combat trained) manage to beat a T800.
Unless you mean it's excessively so (like a normal human kicking a terminator and sending them flying), in which case I agree. The humans have to survive (they're the protagonists), but we can accept the plot armor if it's wrapped up in guile, pluck, wit, etc.
