I always hear about red boat, but I never can find it. I found this at the local Asian store, but I don’t Know how it compares. This is delicious and funky. This is my second bottle, but I can’t compare it to anything else. I don’t even know how to say the brand name

That's the brand we used to buy before we found Red Boat locally. It worked fine for everything I used it for!
EDIT - I've never seen Red Boat brand in restaurants that use fish sauce where theirs have been visible to customers. So it can't be that important.

I did a side by side taste test a while back and I'll never buy Three Crabs again. It tasted like perfume compared to the others. Folks rave about Three Crabs, but I just don't get the hype.
Red Boat is expensive but I use it to dress my Asian salads and add to savory dishes. If I'm making a sauce, Squid is my go to for that purpose. No need to go expensive for sauces.

Every Asian market will carry Red Boat, cheaper than grocery stores too.

Nook mam nyee, with a rising tone while saying "nook".
Nuoc means water, and can be modified by the following words. Nuoc tao is apple juice.

Whole Foods has Red Boat
That’s evidence that Vietnamese don’t use Red Boat. I find it expensive and too salty when compared to the umami flavor. Red Boat is made from Phu Quoc Island. But locals prefer Chin-Su brand.
The best one I’ve tasted is Golden Shell. But it’s so hard to find. I have 2 bottles left in my house from hoarding and it’s saved for special items. The one that I use everyday is Phan Thiet brand. Very close to Golden Shell in terms of taste. Right about of saltiness with a hit of sweet. They have them at the Asian markets but they do run out more than other brands.

Hong Kong market in Terry Town has the best selection of fish sauces locally. That's a great Asian store, about the Size of a Rouse's but only Asian foods.

I've seen it at every single Asian market I've ever been in. I've even seen it a time or two at Walmart. I've never needed red boat and not been able to purchase it.

About a decade ago I went to Vinh Phat and asked for a recommendation, and he gave me Three Crabs. Meanwhile, next door at Dang's, they use Squid. Yet for whatever reason, Red Boat is the most popular. They're all good in their own way.

I really like Three Crabs and use it often.

I will have to give that place a shot.

I think I bought a bottle at Albertsons. It's extremely mainstream.

It's called Hong king but it's 80% Vietnamese stuff with mostly Vietnamese workers.
Lots of selection plus damn good banh mis and duck at the deli counter.
Also they have at least 2 dozen varieties of fresh fish and 2-3 live fish types. Lots of frozen stuff too.
