Yep. Easy fix. But leaving to go outta town. She’s worried the pool will be a mess when we get back, don’t have time to get motor and fix it. Wondering how long it’ll last. I know it’s an unanswerable question, but…..

Probably until a neighbor shoots it from lack of sleep. But it will likely just keep running. Your mechanical seal leaked and slung water into the motor which shot the bearings.

Whereabouts do you live? I may be able to refer you to someone who could help if needed.

Your pool maintenance guy can not just come over and change the pump while your gone..

All my stuff is in my backyard and I have had my pool maintenance guy come fix stuff when gone.. once had the heater plumbing rot out and water going everywhere..

2 choices... either replace the pump motor or have the bearings rewound.

Try whacking it with a hammer, that's what I do with the dishwasher when she starts making that kind of racket.

Just dump about 4 gallons of chlorine in it before you leave.

Leave a key under the mat and let the OT know when you arrive at your destination and while you are at it FB too. I’m sure a Good Samaritan will take care of that pump for you.

They aren't hard to replace. You can probably buy a replacement from Amazon and have it in 2 days.

My only tip for you is to take a picture or two of all the wiring before you take it apart ti make it easier to wire up the new one.

Also, the old motor should still last a while even with bad bearings. Won't be as efficient.

For every pool I’ve seen put in I’ve seen 3 abandoned and filled in with dirt.
