Lest night, I made a large batch of fried rice and dumplings on the Blackstone.

I see my eldest daughter putting a mixture of Kwepie mayo and sriracha sauce in her fried rice (not smothering in it, just a tablespoon or so).
I’m like, mayo on rice? That sounds nasty.
My daughter works at Geisha, and she said a couple of the sushi chefs showed her, told her to try it.

I got to admit, it’s pretty damn good.

You've never heard of spicy mayo?

When I was younger, I couldn't stand the smell of canned tuna so there was no way I was going to try it. My older self thinks that my younger self was missing out because tuna salad is some good shite.

Sea urchin gonads

Went to swan oyster depot in SF and the server/bartender/chef cracked open an urchin and served uni fresh and I’ve never recaptured that taste. I’ve tried uni many other times but it was never as fresh, salty, and delicious

Most of my younger body was made up of "tuna fish". Had it most days in grammer school.

A friend used to talk about pineapple and mayonnaise sandwiches. They were apparently one of his ‘family staples’ that were at every holiday. The thought of it repulsed me, but he brought some to a gathering at our house so we could all try it. While it’s not something I crave or make for every gathering, it actually wasn’t that bad.

I ate a lot of PBnJ sammiches in those days.

I wish I'd been turned on to tuna earlier. My mom tried, but I just couldn't stomach the smell. I guess I needed a little "seasoning" because now that tuna smell doesn't bother me so much.

Hoghead cheese. I grew up my whole life not wanting to eat it as a kid, and when I finally did when I was 20 I was upset I waited so long in life to try it.

That’s one thing that I have no intention of trying.

When I was a kid, you couldn't get me to eat cheese, sour cream, cream cheese or butter------any of it no matter the kind. Because of that quirk, I didn't eat my first piece of pizza until I was a teenager when someone finally convinced me that Mozzarella was about as bland a cheese as there was-----------and I was hooked on pizza after that.

I do use and eat sour cream and butter now, but still won't eat cream cheese with that nasty curdled look it has going on.

I still shy away from most yellow cheeses and only eat a few varieties of white cheeses with Mozzarella, Provolone, Parmesan, Swiss being the white varieties and I do like a good Smoked Gouda. You can pretty much keep the rest.

Brussel Sprouts... Wouldn't touch them and now probably one of my favorite side dishes when roasted in oven with balsamic and goat cheese

Never been to a cook in front? People put a quart of the white sauce on rice.

You mean cottage cheese? I don't believe cream cheese has a curdled look...

While they may not have the look, because they are farther through the process, almost all cheese is curdled.
