We have been missing a floor general for years that truly puts stress on a defense at every level. Despite all these other teams getting better in division, Murray moves the needle for us moreso than any other signing IMO.

He averaged 10 assists per game when he was on the Spurs

Griff got the PG I coveted since San Antonio decided to trade him. He will regain his All Star form with the Pels, on both sides of the court.

He is clutch in late game situations and I just like his low key moxie when he's on. If he can throw lobs to Zion, Trey and Missi, he's the perfect PG we needed. Period.

More so, he’s clutch in the fourth. The main reason we brought him here. That 0-24 was tragic

It could be a pivotal pickup for the franchise. He’s not perfect, but he fills multiple needs.

Murray should be quite useful. Last few years, he seems to be adjusting to the "new" NBA by shooting more 3s...and less midrange 2s. Exactly what we need moving forward.

Just about every one of his important offensive #s are improving over the past few years.

Past 4 years:
3-pt% has gone from...31.7% to 32.7% to 34.4% to 36.3%
3-ptA rate...20.4% to 23.7% to 29.3% to 37.9%

Get him up to about 38% on his 3-pt% on a 3-ptA rate of 45% or so and he is just what the Doctor ordered...especially when you throw in his solid defense. This seems like an EXCELLENT pick-up for the Pels...and this comes from someone who was very high on Dyson's future.

He leads the league in steals over the last couple of years(with Herb 2nd), is a switchable guard with a 6’10” wingspan. Can, and will, shoot the 3. Can handle the ball in crunch time and make good decisions, with the ability to drive, pass or shoot. And he seems to want to be here. Best Pelicans move in a long time, possibly ever. He’s just a perfect fit here.

He peaked at 9.2 in 2021/22. That's fantastic, so no need to exaggerate.

With him working with CJ/Herb/Trey/Zion, I wouldn't be shocked if he has more than 8APG next season. Only 7 players did that in the 23/24 season.

He’s a dog which I think this team has been lacking.

I'm excited about him. No "bi nights" where he is lost.

I’m just glad if we got a PG that we got one with some dog in him. Murray without a doubt checks that box. He might not be box office like Trae Young is and would have been but I honestly think he might be the better fit for what we need on this team. That being said, Trae and Zion in the P&R would have been really damn fun to watch. I think Murray will fit in great though. He’s an excellent rebounder from the PG spot and we will need that this year after we lost our 2 best rebounders this offseason in JV and Larry.

This is a huge signing. I'm curious what I started 5 will look like. There has to be another major move incoming.
