Sure hope we can get Daniels back after a couple of years. I enjoyed his basketball skills, and his hustle every minute he was on the court. I thought he was a not good, but great defensive player.

His defense was pretty good, but I don't think he's ever going to be an offensive contributor.

He will have a typical career for a good defender. he will probably play 12 years on 8 or 9 different teams. His offense will make him a guy who teams will trade quickly when they need to add pieces, but there will always be a taker for him because of defense.

My guess...in a coupla more years...Daniels will either show little to no progress offensively or he will have a spurt like Herb has had. In the former case...we wouldn't really be interested in bringing him back to the Pels and in the latter case...he would be the kind of player that the Hawks would NOT want to move unless it could bring a VERY nice haul. Basically...the Hawks would feel about Daniels...the way we currently feel about Herb.

Bottom line...I think the "Daniels train" has left the station for good...and won't be coming back this way again. He'll either be too good & too expensive...or not good enough to bother trying to obtain.

Really wish we had another year or two to see what happens with this guy...but gotta admit...I think it was a great trade for the Pels.

He has a higher chance of going home and playing in the Australian Basketball League

If Dyson doesn’t develop a jump shot or some kind of offense to his game he will be playing in Australia in a couple years. Kid has the talent though and he can be a nightmare on defense with his length. Dyson was actually one our tallest players last year. He was taller than Zion, Larry and Herb.Maybe an inch shorter than BI or Trey. Willie used him at the 5 some late in the year which obviously isn’t advisable but he can easily guard 1-5.

I really liked Dyson, and thought he could be a very good role player for us for a long time, but at the end of the day that's all he will ever be. He's someone you use to play matchups, but not someone who will ever be a top 8 player because of his limited offense.

If he ever finds and offensive game I will gladly eat my crow, but I just don't see it. But using him, a done Nance, and 2 firsts that are likely to be players like Dyson or worse to get a legit lead guard was definitely a move that made this team better.

Hope he does well except when he plays us. He seems like a good kid.

I'm not disagreeing with the trade, but Daniels doesn't need to drastically improve his offensive game to be a solid contributor to any team. Daniels was a dog for the Pelicans who could defend any player in the NBA. He is that strong and only 20-21 years old. This kid is still growing, and will be NBA player for many many years. The entire league knows this, and he is the main piece Atlanta traded for. You don't believe it was Nance, or two possibly low draft choices. It was a great trade for the Pels, but I can hope that Daniels one day is back in NOLA. Defensive players like Daniels are rare. He's taller, and stronger than he looks.

He’s not a viable NBA player but somehow viewed as an asset in the trade market.
Props to pelicans for moving him before it was obvious to the league.

Look, everyone has different opinions on Dyson. I think he was a really Good Defensive player but not great. But wasnt a playmaker, and still not good scoring the basketball. The awesome news that you have to remember if you are concerned with losing dyson because of the defense he brought, Is that Dejounte Murray is a former 2nd team all defense. Hes a 2way star. Id say hes lesser of a defender than Jrue, but more dangerous offensively. Murray MORE than makes up for the loss of Dyson.

Dude was 20 years old and hadn’t played a full two seasons yet and was already the 2nd best defender on the team only outdone by the highest voted wing in the entire league and he’s not a viable nba player? And is probably or will be in short order a better on ball defender than him already.,

Jesus Christ this board has some of the biggest idiots….

Yep...and if you read the post I was responding to...the purpose of my post was to say that under EITHER outcome I listed...there was almost NO chance for Daniels to return to the Pels in the future. Would luv to have kept Daniels around for another year or two...but luv the trade for Murray much more.

Lol yes the player headlined as the #1 asset in a trade for Dejounte Murray is not an NBA player.

Should have just traded (2) 1st and Nance to get it done.

Above average on defense.
But he is a guard that can’t dribble (create) or shoot. Gotta be able to do one of those as a guard in the nba.

No way.
Who said this ?
NO TEAM would consider today trading a future first for Dyson . Now that is laughable.
