Victory for St. George, State Supreme Court denies rehearing request

quote:

The Louisiana State Supreme Court has denied a request by opponents to rehear the case involving the incorporation of St. George.

The decision was announced Thursday morning.

The denial means that the formation of the City of St. George will move forward.

The request for a rehearing was seen as a longshot, as the state’s high court rarely agrees to such hearings.

That should be the final nail in the coffin, unless the City of BR can find some federal constitutional basis to seek review by SCOTUS.

It’s sad that St. George controls the Supreme Court

I guess you can buy anything if you’re rich like St. George

That was it.

That was the last thing still in the way from my skepticism to full celebration.

Even the EBR Accessor's website notes the boundaries of St. George on their map. The local government knew this was coming. It's official. Get over it.

They need to establish a date of incorporation. St. George may be entitled to a lot of tax dollars since that vote took place years ago.

Date of incorporation should be backdated to the day the election took place or was certified by JBE as Governor.

Part of the lawsuit which failed because they didn’t want to rehear it was BR arguing that the incorporation date was not addressed by the previous case.

This; which means EBR is going to end up owing a pretty big chunk of change to St. George.

It’ll be interesting to see what shite they try throwing against the wall next or will they now finally accept this as a reality ?

This is the nail in the coffin for the anti-St. George arguments.

it's like reparations even though St George citizens benefitted from services provided from Baton Rouge

They wanted to incorporate. It is their right to do so. Get over it.

StG benefitted from millions spent on BRPD and BRFD?

Not even all of BR gets BRFD coverage.

I'm surprised Merrick Garland and the DC goons haven't tried to stop this again on a federal level.

Maybe figure out how to turn the city of BR around an you won't have so many people moving out? Maybe you get a mayor with reasonable brain function to lead the city out of the sewage drain it is headed down and so many people won't want to escape? Maybe you figure out a reason for people to WANT to live it the city of BR?

Hell, if it weren't for LSU and politics, just think how little attraction there would be to BR!
