Concept for soccer. I freaking hate these low scoring games.

Why not change the goal? Make it bigger either taller or wider.
It’s a very cool sport but I just need more scoring.
This is for the normal non soccer people and that’s why it is posted here.
One more thing screw tie games.

Get rid of offsides or at least make it a defined line like hockey.

How can we fix the most popular sport in the world?

1) Offsides should be daylight rule (daylight between defender and offensive player). This fingernail/elbow bullshite is just that.

2) There should be an orange card after 2 yellows, which puts that player in a "sin bin" for 10 minutes and his team is down a man during those 10 minutes. Another yellow after that = red.

Lukaku had a goal disallowed last game because VAR determined his kneecap was offsides.

shite like that is infuriating. If you're going to use this ultra precise VAR, at least relax the definition of offsides.

I have tried to watch soccer again and again and it is the most boring sport to watch. So much time is wasted in the backfield and midfield volleying the ball around. Playground Kickball is more exciting.

In a posh accent: 90 minutes of pure sport. Nonstop jogging and flopping. Scoreless ties. Burn down the village. This is fute bowl

I'd like this but then you have some grey area up for interpretation and people will bitch.

Isn’t this about to become a thing?

Would add a ton of scoring. And also makes sense.

First of all, soccer is already one of the best sports and doesn’t need to change. I hate sports that change for more points, runs, goals etc. Good defense is just as fun to watch.

But all the casuals love scoring

Since soccer is NBA on grass, the way to increase scoring is to add more futuristic basketball rules. Once you cross midfield, you can’t pass back into your own half. A 5 second rule on throw ins. If you were getting really crazy, a shot clock (couldn’t be 24 seconds).

I already love soccer tho, so hope it stays the way it is. It’s the last sport to say frick you to all the casuals every 2 to 4 years who want more from it. It’s mostly stayed just the pure game.

What really needs to change is how they call the offside rule.

Soooo many goals that are scored are taken away because someone’s big toe was offside. It’s so stupid. There’s zero advantage there.

Offsides should only be called if the player is clearly like a step ahead and gained an advantage. But if you have to zoom in to figure out if someone’s toe or elbow was inches offside, it should count.

I swear this happens at least once every game where a goal is scored and then taken away minutes later after it was determined by review that the player was millimeters offside.

You need to pick a team to watch and follow. You’ll never get into it otherwise. Once you get emotionally invested, then you’ll start appreciating and liking the game itself.

It’s like if I would watch two random minor league baseball teams on TV. That would be incredibly boring, and I like baseball. I find it very difficult to just sit there and watch a game that is meaningless to me.

You have to pick a team.

The VAR sucks, I wonder if it had been used in the 80s and 90s would great players like Maradona, Caniggia and Ronaldo have had near the success....not to mention Baggio.

lol. The amount of y’all that say shite so confidently without knowing anything.

Soccer’s rule is way better and more advantageous than hockey haha.

There IS a defined line in soccer. Its midfield. It’s that by default when the ball hasn’t been played out of the defensive zone. It only switches to being the last fielder after that.

Trust me. The game fricking breaks without offsides.

Football (American) has been my favorite sport my whole life.

BUT these conversations where people talk about soccer or some other foreign sport being boring and then tout Football are kind of hysterical. Its like 80% commercials and players subbing in or out and then huddling and then oh wait hes in motion and calling out the mike and then OH WE GET TO PLAY annnnnnd nope its a flag.

I've always been a fan of offsides being defined by foot placement, so the random knee or elbow doesn't make things silly.

Removing offsides will likely hurt scoring.

Even if you did it with hockey rules, it would hurt scoring. Teams would park guys at that line, which would cause defenses to move back to that line. This pushes teams' offenses further away from goals (most teams these days with an advantage play super high defensive lines, often on their opponents' side of the field).
