Hopefully a stud catcher will see a great opportunity at LSU with no set pieces next season.

Hopefully the baw from Houston area (tomball) takes the next step

Good thing is that school
Is massive and I’m sure he’s played against decent competition, not sec competition obviously, but he’s not playing against scrubs

Unfortunately, not a guarantee to make it to campus.
We DESPERATELY need catchers though, the only 2 slated to be on roster are both draft risks (Him and the JUCO Priester)

Maybe we can find a catcher that can also play DT. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Would like to see Frey get a chance - doesn’t seem quite fast enough for the OF.

Frey is fast enough to play OF; Did you see him leg out that DOUBLE??

But he should be in the rotation for DH for sure.

Were you paying attention when he ran the bases? Frey is fast, maybe one of the faster guys on the team.

That being said, he may be pulled onto service behind the plate, but I have no idea what his defense is like at catcher. kind of figured him for 1b/dh next season

ETA: Looked up his 60 time, 6.86 which is good

he was the 12th ranked catcher n the nation but for the ones that dislike catchers on one knee. He is one of those as well. He can also pitch as well

The kid from Houston area was on the #22 high school team in the country only to #1 Catholic of BR so the kid has played at a high level on both high school and travel circuit. His pop time to second is maybe the best ever from a high school kid. I will be ecstatic if he comes to school but I never get my hopes up with kids this highly rated. I give it a 40% chance

Amazing that we carry a catcher for 2 years as he develops. LSU takes all
Of his lumps so we can have him ball out as a junior. When the job is finally all his, he transfers. NCAA is a clown show.
