I just received a text that's supposed to be from Cox informing me that my account will be credited, but I had to go to a link.. When I first read Cox was going to credit me I knew it was a scam.

These scams must be pretty lucrative because the scammers keep doing it.

they are - my wife works for a Fraud center - and in her 10 hour shift she will take 125 to 130 calls - and there is always a 20 to 45 min wait for people to get in.

I get them telling me I just purchased $5k worth of stuff with my Walmart account. I didn't know you could have a Walmart account. Periodically I get text messages from Dominos about my order and the updates I'll get as it is about to be delivered, but no pizza ever shows up.

I get Norton anti virus software ones for like $400. Every time I have to check my bank account to be sure.

Usually get the texts "from USPS" saying I need to log into a website and figure out how to get my package from the warehouse. Not surprising to see USPS mess up but I'm pretty sure even they wouldn't source their work out from an Indian phone number.

Yes but they don't have the correct cover sheet so I always ignore them.
