What is Ludvig Aberg's ceiling?

Seems like he has already been anointed as the next big thing. Currently #4 in the world.
- 24 years old
- 2nd full year on tour
- Finished top 25 in 10 of his last 11 starts (16/17 if you go back to August of last year)
- One PGA Tour win
Pretty crazy how consistent he has been the past year, it just hasn't translated to many wins. It's hard to win. Feels like it's just a matter of time before he gets his 1st major.
Is his ceiling the world #1/best player in golf? Scottie's awful putting at the US Open is burned into my head but I have a hard time seeing anyone replacing him as the best player in the world anytime soon. This isn't a knock on Aberg at all, but I feel like being world #4 with only one Tour win is a bit high. You could find better resumes, but you'd be hard pressed to find many guys ranked behind him playing better golf.

I love that Aberg plays faster than most.
He has loads of talent and potential, just needs more seasoning and being in contention.

For some reason, I feel like “player 2” was Dustin Johnson

If you have enough talent to drive a green to 18 ft of the pin ... and have your club head go 30 yds down range. Your a seriously talented player.

Most of his best golf is ahead of him.
He will sort it out.
I think he’s the next grand slam guy as far as golfers with no majors who could win all 4 in a career.

I'm hesitant to go that high. I honestly intended this to be a "is Aberg overrated" post because the announcers drool over him every tournament. But then I start looking at his stats in depth a little more and man, dude is on fire. Just hasn't resulted in wins but he's only 24, those will come.

I do to. Probably a subject for another post but I honestly don't think there is anything that can be done for the pace of play at this point. Most of them are like robots these days and if one thing interrupts their pre shot routine, it's the end of the world and they have to start all over again. Guys marking and lining up two foot putts might be my least favorite thing. Putt the damn ball in.

They have some tough pins. Most putts seem to need to be hit with pace inside the hole from less than 3 ft. Marking is the right thing to do.
Lip one out and your 3 footer might be 7 feet to finish.

Look how long it took Scottie to notch his first win. Ludvig will be a force for the next 12+ years.

Yes, there absolutely is something that can be done, the tour just isn’t willing to do it

No. There are very few circumstances where a pro needs to mark and lineup a 2 foot putt. Tour players average well over 99% of their 2 footers. At the most, a guy would maybe miss one 2 footer over the course of the year. Major tournaments, or if you're in contention, sure, be overly cautious, but for the most part a pro should just tap the ball in.
I would love when Johnny Miller would openly mock players on air for marking ridiculously short putts.
