Two kids under 5 right now and I’m pretty confident we can ride out the current social media wave. Eventually sharing everything and constantly scrolling will be viewed as gauche and the kids will yearn for physical interaction over online.

And like in 2003, said phone will have phone call and messaging capability only, but also GPS tracking. The smart phone will be allowed when they're mature enough to be responsible operators of a motor vehicle - then we'll talk about it.

Depends on the child. My youngest who’s 11 has an old IPhone that’s just Wi-Fi for games and YouTube. Not much difference between that and a IPhone with regular service. It all comes down to trust.

We waited until my oldest started high school. I think he might have been the last kid in his class to get a phone. He is 15 and doesn’t have social media. He texts his friends but that’s about it. It’s seemed to work well for us.

Seriously we went their whole childhood saying no cell phones then when each of them hit 14 my wife caved saying they needed them so we could stay in touch. So fear porn of abduction won out over years of sanity.
