Doug was the most outspoken I’ve ever heard a radio guy, at one point saying “the ump must be blind in his right eye to miss these calls off the plate”. So how bad were they? It sounded like we couldn’t figure out what was a ball or strike and it really put a wet blanket on our bats.

Was he bad both ways?

He was bad both halves of each inning, but directionally it always fricked LSU.

Very, very bad. Looked like a high school ump out there. I know our fans will say it was slanted against LSU, but I thought he was really bad across the board. Maybe a few more untimely bad calls against us on 3rd strikes, etc., but horrible across the board.

Should have a performance review done.

He was pretty bad. I’m biased but it seemed we had more calls against. Again, I’m biased

Yes, calling strikes and calling balls.

Because the really bad ones were momentum killers.

Seemingly only for one team though

He kept giving the Wofford starter 6 inches off the plate on the low and away pitch to righties. Against a sinker ball pitcher like that, those calls make it nearly impossible to be effective/patient at the plate.

It wasn't Caleb Gilbert against Oregon State bad, but it was bad.

He did the thing that I hate most, which is change the zone based on the count.

So the zone was HUGE on a 3-0 count. But what he did was keep it that when for the rest of that at bat.

Braswell struck out on an egregious call basically because of this. It also led to a bunch of full counts for LSU and batters pressed because of it.

I think he had a lazy eye
Bear hit a ball to Europe, turned around to fire up the dugout, and the lazy eye was activated. Blue thought Jones was trying to show him up

Jump was pounding the real strike zone so it negatively impacted the Wofford batters less. Their pitchers were not nearly as controlled as Jump so they benefitted much more from the inconsistent zone.

TO me it was inconsistent. Jump got a guy looking at a curveball low and away I cant remember what inning. The very next pitch to another batter he throws the same pitch to the exact same location and does not get the call.

TV angle didn't allow me to do my job. But, the 3rd strike on Braswell was fertilizer.

Before he hit that hr I think there was a questionable low strike (per radio) and he asked the ump something and I’m like “well you’re fricked now…” next ball: bad called strike.

Then of course next ball: Yahtzee!

Hell he called a perfect strike a ball against LSU batter so even the Wofford fans had something to bitch about. I remember early in the game telling my dad this ump is calling strikes as balls. knew he was going to be trouble.

He fricked both sides, Lsu a little more but not significantly.
The called 3rd strike on Braswell was terrible
That call should was both low and outside.
