Unbelievable pain after 2 micro discectomy surgeries in last 6 weeks

Surgery was L4-L5 severely ruptured/herniated disc. It's the worst sciatica pain I've ever had in my life. I'm 2 weeks post surgery and I can only walk about 2 minutes before I nearly collapse. Sitting is the only thing that doesn't hurt. Laying in bed is just terrible.
Any advice? Experience? Will it ever go away?

What do your post surgery instructions say? Is this what they told you to expect? If not, call your doctor or his nurse.

lay on floor with legs up a bench. lay on one of those flat ice packs under lower back.
Talk to doctor about gabapentin. It takes a few weeks to work.

I'm taking 300mg 3x a day. They said to expect some discomfort but man this isn't discomfort. This is straight up excruciating pain whenever I get up.

Why aren't you asking these questions to your surgeon? This sounds horrific.

Take a cold shower then wrap a hot towel around your head

I'm going in today. Just trying to find out if this is normal or anyone has ever had a similar situation

Sounds like you need to go back and see your doctor. I had 2 micro discectomies, L4 then L5 and S1 about 20 years ago, walked in with pain and walked out with only tenderness around the incision. Haven't had a problem since. The pain before surgery was awful, no way to get comfortable, it hurt from my butt crack to my pinky toe, I walked bent over. No problem since, play golf and still work out some.

Where did you have the surgery out of curiosity?

See if you can move to a stronger nerve medicine.

The pharmacist at Oyo got something for you.

Have talked to a lot of people who have had discectomies and almost all say they are much better as soon as the surgery is over with of course a little soreness. This isn't normal at all and glad you have an appt today.

I feel you. My cousin struggles with chronic pain and Jeff Landry keeps making all the safe natural options for it illegal

Clearly something is not right with the surgery. Talk to doc asap and I hope this clears up for you.

Most people who get a micro discectomy don’t report pain post-surgery due to it being so minimally invasive. Sounds like your surgeon might have fricked up

My spinal fusion was a beast as far as nerve pain, but not as bad as what you described. Definitely call the doctor and explain what’s going on. I cared for a family member after a hip replacement. He was in unbelievable pain. I had no experience with hip replacement so I didn’t know what was expected post-op. It turns out the rod had caused a crack in the hip bone and it moved about 3/4” of an inch before it healed in place. We found out weeks later as my family member suffered. The physical therapist also missed it. Call the doctor to make sure it’s ok. You shouldn’t be in this much agony. Basically I learned to call the doctor if you are in doubt.

Just out of curiosity, did you look into Discseel or stem cells before this surgery?

Had surgery in little rock at Arkansas surgical hospital. Facility and doctor are rated as amazing and I found it it to be just a great overall experience, except for the pain.
Didn't look into other options. Before surgery I couldn't sit. I could only stand for about 2 months.

The first time I had surgery they only fixed L4, the other 2 L5 and S1 were herniated. The doc at the time said that he couldn't fix the herniated disc's only the ruptured one. Of course, several months later those 2 ruptured and I had another surgery. Now, things might have changed over the last 20 or so years, did they clip the herniated discs as well?
