Or he is simply just leveraging all of the schools against one another.

It's the same approach as doing something like buying a car...but in reverse.

You go to dealership A and ask "how much are you willing to knock off the sticker price". You then take that number to dealership B and say "dealership A is offering to come down $6k. Can you do better?" The back and forth between the two until one, or both, gives you their bottom line offer.

He's a "free agent". He probably decommitted from LSU to create leverage then went and solicited offers from other schools. Now he's trying to get bigger offers from those schools by floating information that his "preferred" choice is back in the mix. It will continue until the schools decide they've made their bottom line offer. But with signing day still 6+ months away there not much pressure to accept any offers right now.
