Pitching Coach

Excuse me if this is long rant, but this has been festering for several years. I myself am not about casting blame from the bleachers or my favorite chair for I am a no name with 3 letters under coach B. Since coach B left so did the pitching coaching (development} left as well. Argue if you may, but go no further than current day with a guy named HURD. In less than a year, this kid has gone from proverbial penthouse to outhouse. I played middle infield under the skipper, and he developed all Hell, since Skip left I could be the pitching coach based on past expectations. Yeskie needs to go, and if not Johnson needs to go as well for sheer incompetence. We handed Yeskie the keys to the Royce, and he let it run out gas. GeauxTigers!

Are you sincerely suggesting that we haven't developed a pitcher since Skip Bertman was the coach?

You could probably name about 50.

If you made a fire Yeski post a month ago, a lot would agree. The pitchers have made a complete 180 to end the year and have looked great. The only complaint really is that they leave some guys in to long, but nobody is perfect at seeing an impending collapse.
Hurd is a bad example to use as a lack of development because his issues are clearly mental. They were mental last year too, but the staff basically never gave up on him because he HAD to be useful for us to be successful. This year they seemingly gave up on him after giving him every opportunity to get it together early in the year.

Riley Cooper was terrible early last year and became an MVP candidate in Omaha.
Did you not see the improvement in Paul Skeens when he came to LSU?
Do you remember someone striking out 17 in Omaha last year ?
Jump, Herring, moffitt all developed this season.
Just a few off the top of my head.

Whatever is going on with Hurd seems to be between the ears. He looks incredible for a few ABs then just can’t help but walk guys.
I think a lot of guys have improved this year so it’s a tough sell to say yeskie isn’t good because of hurds incompetence. Like someone else mentioned, I think some continuity with the pitching staff is going to be very helpful moving forward. I think things only get better with yessir from here
