The Pelicans are open to adding more years onto Ingram’s contract but not at his full maximum amount, league sources told The Times-Picayune.

If the Pelicans and Ingram can’t get an extension done, the team likely will trade him. They can’t risk going into the 2024-25 season with Ingram on an expiring contract.

Is there a realistic number that you’d guys wouldn’t mind keeping him on?

It would have to be 2 things. The right $$ but also has to completely buy in and be the #2 guy.
I think we were kind of seeing it before he got hurt. But when he came back not so much.
This biggest issue I have with BI is how long it takes for him to come back from an injury. Not just the time away from the court , it is how long for his game to come back once he has been out .
BI checks all the boxes to be a great #2, but it just has not happened

I see this as PR to handle trade value.
I don’t see BI taking less than the max or wanting to buy into what the team needs, given how he blew off the offense we were supposed to implement.

35 million per year max
Pay him right under what Zion makes
So basically a 4/140 extension is what I would offer

It’s clear it won’t work with him, better to cut our losses and try something different, even if he wanted to give us a “deal.”

If you keep Ingram, you have to trade Murphy. Can't keep, pay and play both. Plus 4 years and he still hasnt figured it out with Zion. So I wouldn't keep him, even on a super low deal..

$10,000 per three point attempt for the year. That should garner him the league minimum.

You mean CJ.
If we keep BI, we need a real PG.

If you have the opportunity to keep him on a super low deal like that you do it 100 times out of 100.
There’s absolutely no downside to it, and being it’s a long term contract for very good money he immediately becomes one of if not the best trade asset in the NBA

This real PG talk is so annoying. Name these real PGs? Who are the best real PGs in the league?

Are we just going to ignore BKM's inside reporting or ?

Let the start of the floodgates open for the extension.

I genuinely hope the Pelicans extend BI so I know not to waste money on this team anymore

The 4 year, 114 million dollar extension that Dejounte Murray signed is the ceiling for me. It is clear we can get a comparable player who is a better fit for that price, so that would be my red line.

WTF?
35 million isn't super low for a 1 time all star. The idea that Ingram should get more than what Mikal Bridges and Dejounte Murray extended for is simply ludicrous.

When Bridges signed his extension he wasn’t the player he is currently.
Murray could have and would have gotten more if he waited until he was a FA, but like Herb the CBA limited what he could receive in an extension
Those are not good contracts to compare to

There’s one available in FA if we want to grab him. tyus jones who won’t cost a lot.
12ppg on 49% shooting with 7.3 assists with the wizards. Also shot 40% on 3s with 4 attempts per game.

In 2025/26 when the contract would kick in, the cap is expected to be $155. $35 million is 23% of that, so it's not even a first time max. I would expect that to be a very tradeable contract. If you don't have a deal you like better than BI, kicking the can down the road becomes more attractive if you can keep his average salary under $40 million per year.
I'm not sure why he would agree to that kind of deal though.

The problem with adding a guy like Jones is you're basically shelving Jose and Daniels at the PG position. Will they actually risk that by bringing in another guy who should be getting 25ppg at the position?
From the fan perspective it makes a lot of sense but will the front office feel the same way?
