This is either the greatest troll post in golf board history or you live with your mom still. Loosen up a little. Its going to be okay if people listen to music, have a few beers, and enjoy their time on the course away from real life. Also zero percent chance you have never seen this.
Do not live with my mom. I’m not as uptight as I seem. I just have never ever seen this on the golf course and was shocked to be getting advertisements or find out people do this.
But yeah I do reserve the right to play a game of golf without having to listen to some public broadcasting or other peoples awful music selection. I’ve never come close to encountering loud music on a course. I feel like I’m being trolled by y’all saying this is totally normal and expected.
Go back to your shantys!

Agreed. Have never seen this anywhere I've played. But I guess wherever these guys are claiming it's common are munis. ??
This must be some trashy south Louisiana thing. I never saw it playing in NOLA though but I’ve never played a round in BR.

A couple of 80+ old guys don’t like it and will ask you to turn it off otherwise everyone is cool with it.
Did they not ask the gentleman if they could play music before the round or did the 80+ old guys change their mind mid round?

You keep saying its a trashy person thing. Having low music in my cart calms me down and gets me out of my head. When I'm over the ball I have a million things that are going on, and the music helps me.
I know you keep saying you're not uptight but I think that would be for other people to decide. I'm guessing you are one of those guys that take 8 minutes on every shot, taking multiple practice strokes and has a super long routine. You are probably the group that's always in front of me and my friends and take 25 minutes on every green.
It's not a trashy person thing until the music gets so loud that its disturbing other people. I always ask my playing partners if they mind and keep it low so that you can hear it right outside the cart.
I'm on the course to relax and having a couple beers and listening to some tunes is a big part of what makes my golfing experience fun.

Some people play music in their carts but it is not as common as most here are making it seem. Maybe 10% of the carts of the groups on my course play music. Usually at a volume that can’t be heard from 100 yards away. Not a problem. Last week though there was a group of younger guys in their early 20s. They had some voice auto tuned rap shite that could be heard from the tee box of a 150 yd Par 3 when they were on the green.

Carts with GPS have Bluetooth speakers built in now.

I consider BC my home course but I play golf all over the south. There usually isn't a round where I do not encounter music or have somebody in my group playing it. Now I'm not letting somebody turn that shite up where people can hear it 2 fairways over.

You sound like a huge pussy lol. I don’t buy the “I play at classier courses” bs. Guarantee I play at a more exclusive/prestigious club than you and hear music a good bit. You sound like the lamest 29 year old on the planet.

I've been paired up with numerous people who play music during the round. All of them have been nice about it, asked if I mind etc.
Doesn't bother me, especially if they are nice about it and keep it at a moderate level. The only way I could see myself getting irritated is if they were really blasting the music loudly which I have just never come across.
I often like to smoke a cigar while playing. If I'm paired up with a rando I'll ask if they mind and even offer them a cigar.

Just turn it down a bit when I’m teeing off

I have a small bluetooth speaker I either clip on my bag or somewhere in the cart. It's generally only loud enough to hear in the cart. If I'm playing alone and the course isn't crowded I'll turn it up a bit. Saturday they had a slow group in front of me so I invited the 2 guys behind me to come up and join me so we wouldn't all be held up. I had music on and they did too but neither was loud enough to drown the other one out or be a problem. It's all about respect and not being an entitled douche.

I've started to listen to music or an audio book with my airpods when I'm practicing/playing by myself. I can also do it without music for sure. I wouldn't play music on the cart by myself but I don't mind if someone else wants to play it, just not loud enough where someone on a different hole would hear (or loud enough you'd hear it while you're on the green putting).
I played in a scramble Saturday and the guy I was riding with busted out his radio. Kept it on a pretty low volume. Played the best round I've played all year. I honestly just tune it out when I'm about to hit, I don't even notice it.

When I was living in NOLA I was playing at Bayou Oaks. Never heard music
Must have never played around me.
I play the South Course almost weekly and always have music playing during my round. It's not blaring loud, but it is loud enough to hear when I'm in the vicinity of the golf cart.
