Bad parenting….

I'm sure you waited till 21.5 to have your first sip of beer.

will they take his license on first offense?
license would be taken for just possessing beer. I feel like something was left out of the story. Was he driving? Was there an open container? What is the actual ticket for? MIP or unlawful possession of fraudulent documents, or both?

Any chance to get it taken care of without going to court?

Sounds like you're raising a solid kid. (Everyone does dumb stuff every now and then.)
Congrats, and good luck keeping him driving. Shouldn't be too tough.

Nope. But I didn’t use a fake ID to get

What’s the proof of this???? How do the cops know how he purchased the alcohol??

He’ll get a slap on the wrist and get put in pretrial intervention, he’ll do a class on a Saturday and it’ll be done and off the record. The average sentence served for murder is 17 years and they let rapist out on bond, he’ll be fine.

Yep, they don't care about anything other than this. Hell that's almost a rite of passage for college kids.

Sounds like he needs advice on not helping cops during their investigations. “I don’t want to answer any questions”. Let them find what they find and try to piece it together.

I got a ticket outside of Lake Providence. It was my fault. On the way home from a 30 day outage in Arkansas. I didn’t want it in my record so I called the number on the ticket. They told me to write a check for 185.00. Made payable to the judge.

Good advice in here. Pay a lawyer, pretrial diversion and make the kid pay.
Not sure I’d bother fighting the merits.

If he wants to call the city attorney himself and ask if he can get placed in diversion, then I would suggest doing that.
If you hired a lawyer that would be the first thing the lawyer would do.
If he cannot bring himself to do this without an attorney, I would suggest calling Yigal Bander. LINK

Get fricked. You never had a beer before 21 at LSU?

An experienced attorney will take care of this. Enter a plea of not guilty. If no other criminal record, at the very least an attorney would arrange a plea that will allow it to drop off his record after six months. Know that the DA does not want to make the arresting officer come to court and the officer doesn't want to. Usually the asst. DA will be seeing the file right before trial is to begin and would have to call the officer to come in, and figure out how to prove the case. They would rather cut a deal, get a fine, and let it go away in a few months.
