You’re talking straight out of your arse here. There isn’t a single thing Tate has done or instituted that has been any bit different than what LSU was already doing. Not one single shred of curriculum is any different than it was before. I’ve been around Tate many times. Seems to be doing his
Job well so far for the betterment and longevity of LSU. Don’t get the hate honestly.
Your hate is manifested in writings from his past that he may or may not have a continued view of. All I can do is assess what’s he done to this point in his job, and that’s been positive for the university.

Yep. We went from paying 13k to like $100/year.
Stereotypes exist for a reason usually, but I also find the leftist indoctrination reputation to be overblown on here. My daughter doesn't give two shits about politics

I have two girls who graduated from SJA, both high placing. One was a National merit Scholar and the other graduated with honors. It is a very good school, especially for our area, we live in Ascension and preferred to pay the money to send them to SJA. SJA is like a JUCO, they encourage the girls to have responsibility and independence. They also have a tough job of providing a Catholic education as well as a high Acedemic one.
There are some left-wing teachers, but that is not typical. Educators in general, especially administrators are left leaning. With the free exchange of ideas, they both gained some left-wing influences that come from both their religious and academic teaching. My hope is that they will grow out of it, but they are both very compassionate and have a strong desire to help those less fortunate. I think they both made friends with very quality kids and were able to focus on academics. They both were in band and had classes with CHS. They liked being separated and hated having classes with the "boys" because they didn't seem to be as serious, and many had hygiene issues.
That being said the kids they interacted with at SJA and CHS as well as some teachers have become friends and mentors. It is definitely different from how my experiences. They also both still interact with the alumni groups and always say how much they preferred their High School. I think they are better for having gone there.

I’m glad you’re privy to all the behind the scenes policies and staffing at LSU.
There is 0% chance that the vast library of works with deeply rooted racial bias that this guy has published does not bleed into his daily work at LSU.
If the tables were turned and he was a white guy publishing works with a bias towards whites he would be banished from all academia, much less running a university. You live in an alternate universe if you believe otherwise.

They'll get it in college regardless and will have to make up their own minds.
My wife and aren't leftist by any means, so on the rare occasion that we talk politics with our kids, they know that we disagree with most of progressive ideology.

See where your daughter will fit in best.
U-High is a good value school. It is less competitive which allows for more opportunities. However many will agree the academics are a tad overrated. In the area St Joes, Catholic, BR Magnet, and Episcopal are all better academically.
St. Joes is more challenging, but that can be more rewarding.

The most important point is can you even get into U-high? Unless you are a star athlete, you may find it very difficult. The high proportion of studs at that school is no accident.

Does U High still offer the IB Diploma program? That is a fabulous academic achievement. Don't know if other area schools have upper classmen taking LSU classes, but I believe U High still does that.
Two excellent schools for sure.

I have a JR at BR High. I wouldn't have liked it, but she loves it. She's a totally normal kid and doesn't have green hair, as are all of the other kids in our neighborhood that go there.
What would you say the multiple is of LGBTQ students is compared to the general population?

I find the ones not totally normal prey upon weak kids - but that is probably at any school

At first glance, U-High seems like a great value. I will not argue that the kids will be prepped for college, but they will be influenced by a significant leftist bias there.
Admittedly this was a while ago, but I only had one leftist teacher there and we kind of thought he was a tool for it, albeit otherwise a decent guy.

I don't know really, and there are some weird kids there for sure, but a majority of them are just normal kids. It's a huge school (1600 kids).
My youngest wanted to go there for the academics. She applied, got accepted and has been there since 9th grade. She moved from a conservative private school. It has been a better fit for her.

Nothing in his entire body of work says that what you’re saying will happen. There has been zero radical changes at
any level on his resume. He’s got nothing but high remarks. South Carolina tried hard to keep him and was almost named university president there and was a finalist for the same spot at UT Knoxville.
For a radical race invoking academic you view him as, he certainly seems to be in high regard/demand across many universities in the southeastern conference.

Most at LSU seem to really like him. Besides, I, like many, came to see a cat fight like what typically breaks out in School vs School threads, not more political theater.

A Catholic priest once told me, if you want your daughter to remain Catholic, “ don’t send her to SJA”
Posted on 5/7/24 at 2:28 pm to Outboard
My daughter graduated from SJA about 15 years ago. She was more than prepared for college, and is now a very successful small business owner. The school reinforced what we were trying to do at home, both academically and spiritually. I also think that single sex education is a net plus. Sometimes girls have a tendency to defer to the boys-for fear of how they might look or sound. At SJA, there’s no worry about that, and I think that’s why you see so many successful alum coming out of there.

IB, AP and DE
Multiple Blue Ribbon School winner
Readily available standardized test scores
Many UHS students attend universities with low to single digit acceptance rates (along with less prestigious schools). That’s with graduating classes of around 100-125 kids. This year those universities include Duke, Princeton, Dartmouth, Tufts, 2 to the Naval Academy, 1 to West Point, 3 to Tulane, 2 to UGA (tough for OOS, let alone 2 from one school), along with many other schools with decently low acceptance rates that have shifted from “target” schools to “reaches” the last few years. If anyone is following the madness of college admissions these last few years, this is quite an accomplishment from a small school and indicates these universities consider it rigorous and high quality even if the posters on TD don’t. I don’t see anything from SJA that suggests their students are more prepared for college or are admitted to more prestigious universities.
Class of 2023 average ACT:
UHS 25.5 (according to school profile/website) $5,381.03
SJA 25.2 (according to the school website)
$13,054
CHS 25.4 (according to school profile/website)
$13,245
Just for fun:
EHS 26.9
$21,966
BRMHS 25.8
$free
Dunham 28 (according to Niche but all schools listed showed a higher ACT on Niche than what was reported by the school itself)
$22,405+
Conclusion: they’re all competitive with one another academically and UHS and BRMHS are bargains.
My unscientific receipts:
SJA recent colleges
UHS 2023 school profile
UHS Class of 2024 college acceptances on school’s FB page
SJA FB pictures of college t-shirts (maybe someone can post 2024 colleges)
School websites and Niche
