Went through a similar situation a few years ago. Take the money. If you're working 70ish hours you're likely not being clocked, you just have responsibilities that typically take you around 70 hours to complete. Learn to delegate more and consolidate certain things and you'll turn that 70 into 50 before you know it.

For that much money I'd do it for a few years. I live about as cheaply as I did 10 years ago when I was making 32k a year. I could stack up money for a few years, pay off my house, then get another job. Live very comfortably and retire a few years earlier than I'd planned.
I have a great work/life balance where I work now. I rarely work Fridays, generous vacation allotment which I actually can take no problem or worries, and am treated really well. I've turned down more money a few times over the past couple of years but not double. I could imagine though if I had been working 70 hours per week for 10 years I'd probably be really burnt out.

Company offers an opportunity to double your income to make really good money (700k) but it would require you to continue the same type of workload with really no end in site. Do you accept that offer or try to find something else at another company making a lot less money (150-200k) but working a normal work load.
The $700k can be stashed and get you to "retirement" much earlier. The other side of it is that there's no guarantee your health allows you to get that far.

The 1%ers aren’t pussies. They work hard for their money.

It depends a lot on your situation. I have two elderly parents to care for so I need more flexibility than I did when I was younger. People with kids probably need more work/life balance as well.

I would sacrifice a whole lot for $700k a year. That sa orifice would pay off for my kids and their families later on down the road. That's why I'm working anyways.

I couldn't even imagine trying to get by on 700k with today's inflation.

You already work 70 hours a week and now they offer you big money to continue that ? Why did you even make a post. Keep working and retire sooner with the extra money.
Flexing ????

Take the $700k, you're doing it now for half salary. Should be able to retire soon on that salary.

It’s like none of you guys ever saw Click.
You’re not going to get time with your family back, and odds are your family will adjust spending habits to $700k a year.

I cant buy more time with my kids and wife so more than a 40hour work week is a non-starter.

Maybe I should watch Billy Madison as an example of business succession planning, too.

Sounds like a pretty typical big law/in house conundrum.

Wut? What's the point of earning a good living if you don't get to enjoy your time and family?

Most of the people who post here are little more than professional consumers.
Keeping up with peers is their ultimate goal.
