Wichita around Sedgwick county park is just stupid right now. There’s no good way for me to get to work in the morning because they’re working on everything

Setting up to be one of those days remembered in the Midwest for a while. Hopefully the forecast bust today.

A word of advice to anyone thinking of doing storm chasing tomorrow.

There’s probably a lot of people on this forum thinking about doing that so thanks for looking out.

First high risk of 2024. I would also expect a PDS tornado watch today, as well.

Checking in from Stillwater this morning.

Looks like we’re right in the high risk path.

Leave work early. But in these situations the 3pm drive is like normal rush hour as everyone does it.

I’m pretty fricked by what they are showing, technically. I have in-ground shelter but would rather it misses me.

Oklahoma:

Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell
@LtGovPinnell

The State Emergency Operations Center is activated ahead of expected severe weather tonight. Make sure your family has a plan and stay weather aware, Oklahoma.

According to The Weather Channel, if there is a tornado today then this will be the 12th day in a row with at least one reported tornado in the country.

Sometimes these setups fail, but with the high instability/high shear and an obvious spark off a dryline?

Yeah, Id play it safe here. These parameters are what violent tornadoes are made out of.

Plus, one of the pieces making this happen swung over me last night. Windy as all hell, tropical storm forced winds through here. Stout temp drop (hit 65 yesterday and its 27 currently) and snow overnight.

Just a pattern ive noticed but if that happens up here in May, somewhere on the plains is getting a tornado or two the next day.
