Air fryers refresh cold fries very nicely.

Pasta is actually great for leftovers.
If you heat it up in a pan on the stove and a small amount of water with everything, it actually tastes almost the same. You can add a little parm cheese to it as well and it delicious again.

Smoked salmon may be the worst dish refrigerated then reheated.
Why would you reheat smoked salmon? I love it cold.

Shouldn’t be heated in the first place.

Most beef unless it is heavily seasoned or in a gravy . Microwaved hamburgers are arse.

From my experience, anything with a sauce and soups get better after spending some time in the fridge letting the flavors marry a bit more.
We have a countertop oven/air fryer with 10 different cooking modes, and it can resuscitate almost anything, although fish is #1 on my list of things that suffer being served as leftovers.

White bread. Cold fries. Cold catsup. A little black pepper.
Top tier.
Wtf??? Gtfo!
French fries are garbage once they cool down. There isn't a good reason to refrigerate them.

We all know the answer is not gumbo. Delicious the next day.
Tater tots can be salvaged if you mash them up and mix them with cheese. Make little patties out of them and put them in a skillet. Like little hash brown patties.

Steaks actually heat up decent to me. I always grill steaks at our house. Next day, I don't mind heating upna steak in foil in the oven. Maybe broil it at the end.
Hamburger patties is not good at all for heating up.

French Fries is my choice.
They can be very good if they are dropped in the fryer for a bit. It's like the double fry method. Nice and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

Had some leftover steak that was originally cooked a little too long. This particular steak wasn't as thick as the others. Anyway, reheating wouldn't do it any favors.
Used the food processor cheese grater to shred it. Slapped it on the griddle and made cheeseteaks which turned out fantastic.
As to fries, fried chicken/strips/nuggets, fried catfish...convection setting the on oven does wonders.

Air fryers are wonderful for leftovers and can even make french fries decent again. Most tomato and pasta-based dishes are fine reheated, or eaten cold.
For leftover steak, I usually cut it up into bite-sized pieces and stir-fry it with onions, peppers, and sometimes mushrooms to warm it up. Then serve it with a couple of sunny side up eggs for steak and eggs.
Things like fried fish and chicken are fine left at room temperature overnight and still good the next day.

A cold French Fry sandwich was one of my dad's (RIP) favorites. Made pretty much the way you say. He loved them. I hadn't thought about that in a long time. Thanks for bring back an old good memory to me.

Vegetables are pretty easy to bring back after refrigerating. Squash, purple hull peas, butter beans, green beans, etc...

All
Stovetop, air fryer, oven only. It is a game changer. Never the microwave. Electric kettle for water and the microwave is essentially useless.
