Jokic is the best player in the NBA right now, and it's honestly not even close. The average fan doesn't even realize what they're witnessing.

Eh, it’s pretty close between Jokic and Luka. Both are players the league has never really seen before.

I'll take the opinion of Jerry West AND Phil Jackson who have consistently said that Kobe Bryant as a rookie was more NBA ready than Michael Jordan was his rookie year..

Kobe had professional basketball skills and talent as a rookie.

Jordan was a good college basketball player with superb athletic skills who improved his deficiencies (outside shooting and ball handling) to be in the TOP 3 NBA GOAT category..

I'll value the opinions and parrot those same opinions by NBA players who confirm the same!!

Phil has said the only advantage MJ had over Kobe was bigger hands!

ROOKIE MJ DID NOT HAVE BETTER FUNDAMENTALS, WAS NOT A BETTER JUMPERSHOOTER,WAS NOT A BETTER DEFENDER, WAS NOT A BETTER BALL HANDLING GUARD THAN ROOKIE KOBE.

People conveniently ignore and /or forget that MJ had a very suspect jump shot beyond '17-'20 feet and relied on his layups ,mid range jumper and dunks to score most of his points early in his career.

@Chicago in Jordan's rookie season Orlando Wooldridge was the best outside shooter at 55% and 22ppg.

QDaily avg 16 ppg and 47%...

In the playoffs Woodridge shot 50% followed by bigs Greenwood ,Sidney Green, Corzine and Caldwell Jones, who were all very effective and efficient shooting well over 50% as a group with the lowest % @ 50%...

Guards MJ @43% and QD @ 41% were not getting it done from outside...

QD (All Rookie @ 15ppg)didn't like MJ getting all the publicity.....

That team could score but couldn't stop anyone.

If QD was hot along with Wooldridge from outside they were good.

When Wooldridge was the only consistent jumpershooter they weren't winning against balanced teams.

Well I’m fairly certain neither Phil nor Jerry West said that and Phil didn’t coach either player when they were rookies. As a rookie Kobe wasn’t very good. Mostly he stood around the perimeter looking for spot ups off double teams because anytime he tried to make plays or attack he was awful. It wasn’t until year 3-4 that he improved his handle and understood how that he began to make plays with the ball in his hands. Jordan on the other hand was a top 3 player in the league the second he stepped on an NBA court. Your knock is that he didn’t shoot 3s well lol, he attempted 52 as a rookie and 18 in year 2. You obviously didn’t watch either players entire career and I wouldn’t have to show this absurd comparison.

Ppg
MJ- 28.2
Kobe- 7.6

Fg%
MJ- 51.5%
Kobe- 41.7%

Assist
MJ- 5.9
Kobe- 1.3

Rebounds
MJ- 6.5
Kobe- 1.2

right now its jokic until jokic is eliminated.

i expect we will see mavs vs wolves in the west finals and the winner of that (luka vs ant) should be crowned best player.

What if neither play well?

What if neither finish the series?

That’s a really stupid way to determine best current player.

Well you are fairly wrong!

Jerry West worked out high schooler Kobe against Michael Cooper and Kobe destroyed the NBA defensive specialist so bad they stopped the workout!

It's well documented!

It's also well documented that Kobe came off the bench as a rookie because Eddie Jones was a very good shooting guard and they didn't want to upset team chemistry and morale!

Maybe since you're into your personal feelings and not facts, you can easily verify the facts by pulling up the interviews by West AND Phil regarding Kobe.

Additional interviews are online from Laker players such as Brian Shaw,Shaq etc.

It's no secret that Kobe was better at 17 than Jordan was at 21!

It's only casual fans that ignore the opinions of people that played, coached, scouted at the highest level.

Stats alone don't give the total picture.

If Jordan couldn't shoot long distance consistently isn't an opinion it's easily researched by shot charts and video.

You are just making things up at this point!

Kobe came into the league as a great ball handler.

Do you honestly believe that the son of a longtime professional basketball player couldn't dribble?

1 of the most basic and important drills you are taught as a kid?

That's nonsense and something you decided to add attempting to discredit my post.

View the interview from Coach K about wanting Kobe at Duke.

Either you didn't actually see MJ in college and his first few NBA seasons or you just want to ignore facts..

Jordan was a limited offensive player with great athletic ability.

He worked on his jump shot and dribbling.

Btw,I didn't bring up 3 point field goal attempts....

I said '17-'20 which is outside what is considered mid range field goals.

Shorter than the international line and definitely shorter than the NBA line.

Not comparing careers just skills entering the league.

I make that very clear.

You haven’t provided any facts just conflated stories with zero corroboration and moving goal post. The facts say the exact opposite of what you claim and unlike you I did watch both players entire careers.

You are funny!! All the interviews are online!
.
THE INTERVIEWS ARE ALL ONLINE!!!

You don't know anything about me.

I provide facts and you dismiss them even after I tell you where to confirm them!

You refuse to accept that you are another bulls*** poster on tigerdroppings.

Always attacking an individual when you don't agree and can't refute the facts.

I was in California after St Aug.

I was in the gym in Orange County when rookie Magic jumped in Kareem's arms after a skyhook won their first games as Laker teammates..

I watched them play Athletes In Actions with 1/3 of the Arkansas Triplets, Marvin Delph.

I'm well known around California as a player .

At UCLA,LMU,USC and every recreation league in Los Angeles County..

Played in the yearly basketball tournament in Bell Gardens held for Indigenous People with my basketball teammate from N.E.L.A.(Highland Park)..

I was running regularly with Purvis Miller and Darryl Smith during summers.

Later with my St.Aug friend Cedric Bailey and Jimmy Brown Jr...All USC players....

Played with UK Wikdcats Dwight Anderson,Sam Bowie,Dirk Minnefield in L.A. before Dwight transferred to USC.

You dudes get on anonymous sites and talk all types of disrespectful s***!

Ran often with Clifford "TreeTop" Robinson (THE 1st Cliff Robinson)

I was in Oakland running with Sonny Parker,Lester Connor.Purvis Short(a longtime family friend from Hattiesburg),Sugar Ray Richardson..

Quentin Dailey and Bill Cartwright in different Bay Area gyms...

Even the youngsters know me including Patrick Clardy,Artis Jones both McClymonds HS and NCAA Players I used to work out!

Also some of the players from St.Marys,Bishop O'Dowd who later played college ball.

I even tried to help young Chris Wasburn when he got hooked on drugs in Oakland.

I was able to run at Kezar Pavillion San Francisco when Bechtel Corporation was still based in the Bay Area and had a league based there.

Don't hide behind the keyboard make yourself known.

I still have a few sports mementos left even though most were lost in Katrina..

Let's ask: Darren Daye,Cliff Pruitt,Byron Scott,Casper Ware,Dane Suttle,Chip Engelland,Yogi Smith,Willie Smalls,Earl Howard Jr(NOLA native in So.Cal ,Vegas),Ennis Whatley,Hollywood Robinson ,Micheal Holton,Leon Woods,Jacque Hill..

The entire Wilkes family plus all the Verbum Dei players from the 1970s.

I've assisted some of my former teammates as a volunteer coach on the high school level.

Have steered a few players to my friends and teammates to junior colleges, D1,D2,NAIA and even my famous friends who are NFL and NBA agents!!

Even had people in Oakland trying to protect JaMarcus Russell after his uncle from Mobile died but he ignored their advice!

Name the event, time and place and I'll shut down your limited sports ignorance with a few video calls!!!

We will call Brian Shaw when the playoffs end and have him tell you how good Kobe was as a rookie....

We can definitely reach James "Hollywood " Robinson any day of the week..

You didn’t provide any facts. Kobe Bryant wasn’t in HS when he worked out for the Lakers. That happened in between the NBA season and the draft. Kobe had finished HS and famously taken Brandy to his prom prior to that workout. You said Micheal Cooper was an elite, shut down NBA defender at the time. Also incorrect, Cooper was a 40 year old assistant coach who’d been retired for 6-7 years after a career ending injury when that workout took place. You haven’t provided a single fact yet. Your stories are either incorrect or cobbled together bits and pieces of stories you mashed together to invent a biased narrative. Your previous post is an exercise in hypocrisy since it was you who initially attacked me and I just threw it back at you. You also accuse me of bias then openly proclaim that you’re 100% biased. Of course people like you don’t like taking your own medicine.

So now you question the Great Jerry West?

You are a joke!

Out of hundreds of ball players available, he picked Michael Cooper to play Kobe Bryant!

Cooper must have been still capable of playing good enough basketball to be the right competition?!

Or maybe Jerry West didn't know what he was doing right?!

You're splitting hairs being intentionally obtuse.

The high school prom,hs graduation and NBA draft are all in late spring, early summer..

Kobe Bryant never played a second of college basketball and declared for the NbA draft as a HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR!

Kobe Bryant went straight from high school to the NBA!!

Doesn't matter he graduated he is 1 of the high school players that went straight from prep ball to professional basketball.

For the last time great basketball savant; THE INTERVIEWS I REFERENCED ARE ALL ONLINE!

This isn't the toxic poli board or newly toxic ot board that I read and avoid commenting on.

Everything I said can be checked visually with audio accompanying it.

I don't post for likes.
I don't attack others online.
I discuss,debate posts not people.

I proposed a solution!
Anytime, anyplace.

But if you have the audacity to question former professional basketball players, coaches and even Jerry West (a great player, a coach and great general manager) nothing I say is going going to change your OPINION.

Anything I post I will say to any grown man in person.
