Thoughts on The Fall Guy

It’s a fun movie.
It strays a bit too often in being goofy at times intending to be “crowd pleasing” and those moments didn’t work for me.
The rest of it was a well done if by the numbers romantic action movie.
I missed a bit in the middle.
I didn’t like the car chase that deals with the garbage truck at all.
I am in love with Emily Blunt. The villains are the real standouts.
There is a mid credits scene
The movie made me think a lot of Rush Hour and Bullet Train. Definitely not as good as rush hour though.
The movie was obnoxiously meta at times.
I thought the aliens looked really cool and I’d definitely watch the movie they were making

Was making fun of it until I saw the trailer.
It does look like a fun time.

The more I watch of Emily Blunt, the more attractive she appears to get.

The exception to that being Oppenheimer. In this though I just kept thinking she’s just an ideal woman and Jim is one lucky motherfricker

I thoroughly enjoyed it but you have to suspend disbelief for a lot of it. Also idk why they don’t make hour and a half, hour and 45 minute movies anymore. They could have cut some of the fat on this one.
You and me both. And she wasn’t even fixed up in the movie. Plain Jane for the most part.

I enjoyed it. I find Ryan is really good in comedy. Emily Blunt was amazing in Live Die Repeat with Tom Cruise. I'm definitely a big fan. She was good in "The English" on prime also recently.

Prime Emily Blunt is “Dan In Real Life”

More like a romance with a side of action.

This. Her dancing to the jukebox at the bar with that brunette/auburn hair hooked me

Watched it today with the wife. I wasn't that interested, but she was itching for something to do after we've spent the last month doing little more than yard work on the weekends.
The best description of the movie is that it was fun. Gosling and Blunt have good onscreen chemistry, but it's not overbearing.
The story itself wasn't all that deep, but set up in a way that didn't spoil it all within the first 15 minutes.
Some of the metas were a bit too much (like the split-screen) but it wasn't intolerable. I snickered at the comment about being careful with the truck because it was product placement so there were only two.
The easter eggs were fun for us old farts.
-The truck was a modern take on the original from the series
-During one fight scene Gosling pushes a guy away in a slightly slowed scene and we hear the Bionic Man sound effect for doing something strength-related
-Lee Majors and Heather Thomas
-The first song at the end (the country song) was the theme song for the show
-If memory serves, when the old theme song is playing the truck jump shot happens, this mirrors the intro on the show at about the same point in the song
The snippets at the closing were the stunt doubles doing their stuff during the making of the movie, I thought that was a nice touch considering the movie was about a stuntman.
This isn't a "summer blockbuster" by any stretch of the imagination, but it's worth going to see in a theater if only just to keep the theater in business a little longer.

Just got out of it. It was a very fun movie. And... no homo, but Ryan Gosling is a very good looking man. As my wife said... "If we did such things, which we don't, but if we did, he would be my" hall pass."
Me: And Emily Blunt is a... "NOPE, you don't get a hall pass".
Just an overall fun movie. No preaching, no PC crap... just fun.
And a direct shout out, IMO, to Tom Cruise and Top Gun: Maverick at the beginning thanking us for seeing the movie in a theater as it should be seen.

Saw it today. Way too meta and cute in too many parts, which leads to no actual feeling of peril for the leads.
However, the parts that work, work extremely well.
Blunt and Gosling have high level on screen chemistry (although both kind of always do in light/comedic roles because they're so good in those roles).
Gosling iand Blunt are also probably two of the most likeable lead actors working today, which helps. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is quickly becoming great in everything he's in as well. His dipshit McCoughnahey ripoff was perfect.
Had a lot of strong aspects, but also quite a few weak ones. I'll probably never watch the film again except to see Emily Blunt doing Emily Blunt things. She could just read the encyclopedia and every red-blooded male would fall under her spell.

Saw it last night. I was amazed at how empty the theater was for an opening weekend.
I really liked it. Story was good, characters were well developed, acting was great by everyone. It was a really fun movie.
Wife even commented about how rewatchable it will be when it is streaming.
Two thumbs up!

Ok movie. Some decent action, but the prolonged truck fight was boring, though you could tell they meant it to be the centerpiece action sequence. Never any sense of peril for the characters. And Heather Thomas in the stinger made me sad.

This movie has made me go back and start watching the old tv show. It’s damn entertaining. And the women are incredibly hot.

It’s going to be a big flop.
