Cornbread and Milk

Who else here does this?
Having some cornbread left from last night's dinner with some cold milk.
Sprinkled a lil sugar on too.
When I was a kid we would sometimes add some grape or apple jelly for the sweetness. Good stuff!

I haven't had this in years, but my granny sure ate the heck out of it when there was leftover cornbread.

Was a staple at Granny's house except she used buttermilk.

Many a dinners were jiffy and milk growing it.
Still love it to this day, though I have preferred a sweeter cornbread over the traditional savory southern style.

One of my favorite meals and I always think about my grandfather when I eat it.

Just seeing those pics brought back memories from way back. About the only thing better would be fresh cream skimmed off the top of "real milk" and drizzled over a bowl of dew berry cobler.

Had it a lot growing up, but it's been a while. My mom still eats it with leftover cornbread.

Tha hell is wrong with you Looziana folks and ur sweet cornbread?
Sugar doesn't belong in cornbread and eating leftover cornbread requires buttermilk, green onions, salt, and pepper.
Tha hell.

My mother loves cornbread and milk. She grew up on a farm and it was a staple. I'm not a fan, but I do like it in some hot soups.

It’s called Cush Cush. At least act like you are Cajun.

You’re obviously NOT Cajun because Cush Cush is different!

I thought cush cush was cooked sort of like grits.

I know. I'm just busting your balls. Cush cush is essentially corn bread, but cooked on the stove rather than baked in the oven. So I think it is fair to say that cush cush is "cornbread and milk."
