Wouldn't you rather Sexton and Kessler?
Walker Kessler is actually a really good defensive player.
No, I think duren is a better overall player and much higher ceiling. Duren is much more mobile and allows you to play different styles on defense. Kessler is a really good drop defender but gets roasted if he's pulled out. Duren is already the better rebounder, passer, and FT shooter while being 2.5 years younger. His defense will come.

Out: Ingram, Dyson, pick 21
In: Duren, Dejounte Murray, pick 3.

Give me Kessler over Duren all day every day.
Kessler is a beast defensively. Duren gets some dunks on the worst team in basketball.

quote:S&Ts are not really all that common any more, but they could still happen. Why would you waste anything on Harris? It would have to be large enough to convince him to go to a small market (i.e. overpay). He is not really very good any more given his cost.
Yes. No one said you had to give him a $50M/yr contract. S&T's are still a thing.
No one said i was bringing him here to be the #2 on the team. I want to bring him off the bench.
He's been there for 5 years. Every single year the Sixers have been better with him on the court than off the court if you look at his on/off stats. He might not score 20ppg, but he's going to help the team win. As i said, he's big enough to hold his own against most small ball 5's, as well as 4's, and his length and defensive instincts make it hard on perimeter players to do anything against him. and he has always been able to knock down open 3's.
You can bitch he didn't score in last nights game, but if you are going to bitch about it, then talk about the 19 points he had the game before on 7-11 shooting.
Again, i'm not asking to bring him here to be a #2, a #3, or even a #4 on our team. He's coming off the bench and playing the 3/4 with Trey and Zion and some small ball 5.

quote:He is terribly overrated by some on this board. He commits really dumb fouls and gives the impression that his BBIQ is not really that high by some of the plays he makes. I would not mind taking a shot on him given his youth, but do not see him as a centerpiece to a trade. Personally, I lean towards Dyson being better than him currently.
Is Duren good? Legit question. I do t watch Detroit. I know he can't shoot. Can he switch and defend? If not, I don't see the fit. He doesn't block shots either and his defensive rating is pretty meh

They happen all the time.

waste what?
We are the one sending the good player to them. We're getting back picks, which i don't care about.

That is right. But what is an overpay for him? if he's as washed up as y'all say he is, then we shoudl be able to keep him for under $20M/yr.
quote:

at $40M/yr, you're right. At $20M/yr, then he's still a good player.
Again, he is better on the court than off for the Sixers all 5 years he's been there, including this year. You dont' have to score 20ppg to have a positive impact on winning.

Kessler can play that backup 20 MPG defensive 5 role we've been craving.
However, we still need a starting C, which leads me to begrungingly still think we need to go for jared allen...

So you care about Tobias freaking Harris at 32?

Kessler has more rebounds per 36 and more rebounds per 100 possessions. They have basically the same TRB%. Kessler has better shooting splits except for FT, where neither of them shoots or makes enough to impact wins.

Not sure how a 42 year old defensive end helps us there.

The Rockets got Dillon Brooks this past offseason in a S&T
The Mavs got Grant Williams this past offseason in a S&T
The Jazz got Sexton last offseason in a S&T.
3 years ago:
Lowry to the Heat
Dinwiddie to Wizards
Our dumbasses with Devonte Graham
Theis to the Rockets
McDermott to Pacers
Lonzo and GTIII in that stupid exchage by our dumbasses again
DeRozan to Bulls
Fournier to Knicks
Markannen to Jazz
2019 and 2020 had 14 of them.
So 27 of them in the last 5 years.
They weren't popular for a long time, and in 2019 that all changed and they've become a lot more common.

Yeah. Tobias Harris off the bench helps us win. A Sixers 2029 draft pick does not.
I'm interested in winning in the next 3-4 years. We aren't short on picks, so no i dont' care about aquiring more of them just for fun.

You want to give Harris 20M/year to be Zion's back-up?

and play 25-30mpg? yes. If we are going to pick up a defensive 5 on a rookie deal, and a PG making under $30M/yr, then yes i'm ok with giving him a 2/$40 contract.
If it's Murray or Sexton that come here, and then someone like Kessler or even just Claxton for $15M/yr, then yes i'm ok giving Tobias that much. And if you dont like the fit or his play, then you have a nice contract to attach in a deal to go get someone good with the young talent and picks we still have left.

no many are done b/c the team signing the guy doesn't have the cap space to sign him and they are willing to give up draft capital to do so.

The problem with Tobias Harris and you saying you bringing him off the bench is he’s a guy coming off a max contract.
He’s not signing here for less than 30 million, especially with the rumors that Detroit is hot after him (I assume they would be willing to give him a 2 year max just to burn their cap space)
I am not giving Tobias Harris 30 million to come here, if we do that we might as well just give Ingram 50

Tobias Harris doesnt move the needle for us, even off the bench. Hard pass.
