What is the general opinion of the board regarding a home robot vacuum?
If have one and like it, what kind do you have?

We've had several expensive ones and for the last 5 years we've only purchased OKP K2's from Amazon. $80, gets up same amount if not more hair from our 4 dogs, dirt etc.
Have recommended to several friends and family and they agree.
(We've purchased 5 due to dog poop disasters)
Right now $99. Usually $80

I’ve had a roomba for a few years now and my two biggest complaints are consistency of results and small marks on all the furniture where the bristles rub all around the house. It’s quite nice to only really need to old school sweep/mop every once in awhile now.

Have two Shark Matrix models and seriously can’t imagine life without them.

Roborok S7 ultra max is one of the best purchases we have made. Vac and mop and self emptying. We love it.

Second the Roborock. Has an app. Maps out your entire home on a first run. Set up no go zones. Can vacuum the entire house, a cropped zone, or you pick specific rooms.

Have the Q5 and it’s great. I will definitely upgrade to the self emptying one some day.

Have I-Robot J6.
Love it so far, got it last Oct.

I mean, if you don't actually want a clean living environment then I guess they are ok. I actually want to get dirt, dust, and pet hair collected into a HEPA rated filter bag and thrown out of my house so my vacuums are a 1995 Kirby and a commercial-grade hard surface vacuum.

Actually it’s just the opposite. We are extremely clean. We want something that keeps the house reasonably clean between weekly deep cleaning. That cuts down on the time it takes to do the deep clean.

We run it every Sunday. It forces us to keep things picked up (kids, too) in general.

Neato Botvac for about 8 years. Battery replacements are getting harder to find at a good price for our model but it still runs well.

They're worth it for vacuuming but not for mopping... do that yourself

I have the Roomba J7 with homebase that you only have to empty once per month or so. It's worth it. Before it we were vacuuming daily to keep the dog hair at bay. Now I vacuum once a week before I use the wet vac. It doesn't get everything but almost. It's set to run once in the morning after we leave for work and once in the afternoon before we get home.
The ones with mapping clean a lot better since they aren't just going in random patterns until they bump stuff. I take it apart and blow it out with an air compressor about once per month. It's two years old and still works really well.

I have a roomba and am having trouble with it emptying the container into the bag. It's constantly getting jammed and I have to manually empty the chamber which mean I can only run it when I'm home.

Yeah, this is something to maintain what I pay people to do every other week; which is deep clean. I have two dogs and two kids. There is sand, mulch, and all kind of shite they bring in from school. I run it every weekday at 10.
Neato was my first ever intro to robovacs. I loved that thing.

Roborock.
We have an Aussie and that thing fills the bin on the Roborock daily. It’s 5 years old now and showing its age so about to buy another.

whenever mine does that it means it's time to clean it really well.

We have had multiple robot vacs over the years - bobi, roomba, shark.
The roborock is SIGNIFICANTLY better.
It cleans amazingly well and it the app works great. It has the best mapping I've seen. It's super easy to clean a room/zone.
You can also get the replacement parts on Temu for dirt cheap

I have an old, basic Roomba. It is a good supplement to traditional cleaning, but being a "dumb" vac it gets lodged under furniture like a bitch. We have had to place items like small dumbbells under chairs and such to keep it out.
The next one will have some smart capability to avoid those issues.
