Would the 1999 Bulls four-peated if the core came back?

If the core came back after the '98-'99 lockout, would they have fourpeated?

Absolutely not
They barely won the last one, they were all spent and running on fumes

I don’t think they would have in 99. They most definitely would have gotten a 4 peat in between MJ’s 2 year hiatus to play baseball. I don’t think they win both years though to make it 8 straight, as Houston was playing great basketball.

I think they'd win it this year if they came back

Possibly because of how short that season was due to the lockout. Season didn’t start until like February.
Like someone else said though, they were spent. No chance they win it all in a full season

Would have competed but probably not.

they went 62-20 and 15-6 in the playoffs. what’s “barely”

I think they win it, without a doubt. Kerr would have still been with the Bulls and not the Spurs, who won it all that year. That alone probably neuters the Spurs. Knicks and Pacers were the threat to get to the Finals and I think Jordan & Co take care of either one, especially in a shortened season.

Jordan/Pippen/Horace Bulls would have been an interesting matchup for the Rockets. They had no one to even contend with Dream. However that was it, I don’t think Dream carries them to the title in 94. Bulls take it. That cause Clyde not to come to Houston and he goes chasing rings elsewhere. Rockets don’t even reach the Finals. I think the Suns make it in 95 and finally beat MJ. That leads to Rodman coming in.
Jordan stays one more year and in a strike shortened season, Bulls take it in 99. Puts Jordan 8-1 in the Finals!

Probably not.
By the time they reached the Finals the playoffs would have added up to an extra season over the past four years.

If Jordan never retires, the second three peat never happens. There would have been major contractual/money issues coming into play and it would have been likely Pippen would have left and Rodman would never have come. They easily win in 94. In 95 they get dunked on and it’s a rebuild with a lot less to work with.

absolutely yes. spurs would've crumbled under the pressure just like the jazz..
kraus messed up badly by screwing up that 4-peat

Reinsdorf was just as much to blame.

I think Jordan’s peak was 1993 so 1994 would’ve been a much better chance of the 4-peat.
Not 1999. Felt like the end of the road. Scottie messed up his back in Game 6, yet they still managed to win.

I dont think so. Dennis Rodman last good season was with the Bulls. He didn't have another finals run in him at all. Scottie was on the decline also.
Tim Duncan wasn't some scrub. Spurs win.

No Ron Harper either in the world where Jordan doesn't quit and go play baseball.

No. Duncan made Jordan quit

Rockets also had Drexler and Horry.
As for winning in 99, they would be favored to do so. They beat Jazz 4-2 in finals. They had one more year left. Make a decent off season move and they are good.

As owner, I would say he was all to blame. He had arguably the greatest player and the greatest coach in NBA history and he allowed his GM to essentially fire/retire them both before the '98 season even started.
