Despicable Arizona Gov Katie Hobbs vetoes bipartisan bill to combat squatting

Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs has vetoed a bill aimed at strengthening the rights of homeowners looking to evict squatters from their property, despite the bill being passed in bipartisan fashion and as a wave of squatting cases continue to terrify homeowners across the country.
The bill, SB 1129, would have permitted a homeowner to request law enforcement to immediately remove a squatter from their property, had the squatter invaded a home and unlawfully claimed a right to live there.
Police, acting on an owner’s affidavit, would have had the permission to immediately go in and have someone evicted."Today I vetoed Senate Bill 1129," Hobbs wrote. "This bill fails to leverage existing legal mechanisms, respect the due process rights of lawful tenants, and minimize unintended consequences such as for victims of domestic violence."

I hope someone goes and squats in her house and she has to go through years of "due process" to get them out.

At some point the majority of people have to wake up and realize that this kind of shite is intentional. In no way should protecting the rights of squatters over homeowners make rational sense to anybody, yet here we are. This shouldn’t even remotely be a political issue (as evidenced by bipartisan passing of it); it’s a common sense issue.
But this isn’t about “lawful tenants.” It’s about squatters who are there illegally. Idiot.

It’s Democrat. It’s easy to remember because it ends in ‘rat’.

True.
Either the people voted for her, or an element of cheating took place.
Big story will be with her next election, whether or not people are stupid enough to vote for her again.

And what do "victims of domestic violence " have to forego with squatters?

I don’t understand why you cannot walk onto your own property and just happen to have a sidearm and peacefully request the squatters leave.

This is the bill. LINK
Shockingly, Hobbs is a liar when she says the bill doesn't take into accounr lawful tenants because
What is Title 33, Chapter 10 of the Arizona Code? It's the Arizona Landlord and Tenant Act which also talks about lawful tenants and victims of domestic violence.

quote:
For the purposes of this section, "transient occupant":
1. means a person who occupies a residential property and who meets all of the following requirements:
(a) Does not pay rent for the premises.
(b) Does not have an OWNERSHIP interest, FINANCIAL interest or lease INTEREST in the property.
(c) Did not have any prior right to occupy the property.
2. Does not include a tenant under title 33, chapter 10.
