I would like to see the Saints succeed in everyway but I just don't think Dennis Allen is the man to be their leader. He was a decent Defensive Coordinator, but man....he stuggles as head coach.
I'm going to play fortune teller here and say after this year, he will be sent packing.

Dennis Allen's future depends on how he performs the next year maybe two. It's certain that he'll either be kept or fired in 7 months time.

The moves I'm seeing during the off-season aren't moving the dial for me, at all.
I may be wrong but I think the Chase Young signing was a mistake, especially with the ongoing injury issue.

Change your thread title, very misleading and gives false hope

Reading this sentence makes me happy I have drastically minimized the amount of my fandom and attention to that inept organization.

Dennis Allen is qualified to be an NFL Head Coach like Peej is qualified to be the Director of the National Hurricane Center.

“In over his head” would be a correct statement.

Literally no fan of the Saints will disagree with this statement.
No national pundit, talking head or panelist will disagree with this.
Guys who are paid to argue like Shannon Sharpe and the other guy will agree with you about this.

Unfortunately, only one person will disagree with you and that’s the guy who hired him and won’t fire him. I’m not sure a 7 win season gets him fired.

I don't think it matters. The franchise is no longer built for long-term success. The core of the team is aging quickly, they invested a lot of cap space in Carr, and the OL is in shambles. A new coach won't magically change that.

Fresh Take

Unfortunately the whole organization is stagnated and there likely won’t be a change soon because Loomis doesn’t know how to transition the franchise post SP

Poor DA.

Set up by two franchises to fail. He should sue and High can be his Barrister.

That's a little harsh for DA At least DA belongs in the building as a DC.

Im not a DA fan but winning 7-9 games a year aint awfull.Mike Ditka
was horrible.So was Tom Fears,Ernie Hefferley,John North,JD Roberts
were horrible.
For a coach who`s offense has totally lacked discipline and consistency,
DA has won alot more games and barely missed the playoffs for being
a crappy coach.BAD coaches might win 3-5 games a year,thats it.

You are correct, a new coach cannot magically change that. But if you bring in a guy with a true, and updated, vision and guarantee him a few years you can work through the aging contracts, the cap issues, and allow him to bring in players that fit his team. If you do it all at the same time, then in 3 years you should be out of majority of the aging contracts, cap should be in a healthy position, and the coach should have majority of the team set to fit his vision.

If you wait it out, you are then allowing DA to build the team for the next coach. And once the aging contracts and cap issues are set; you now have a team that fits DA's vision. Which is fine if you want DA as your coach; but if the plan is to bring someone else in; you will then need to give them another 1-2 years to flip most of the roster over.

Is there an award for those who go 7-10 and miss the playoffs vs those who go 0-17? If you are consistently inconsistent and never make the playoffs then you are a crappy coach.

It is when you had one of the easiest schedules in NFL history. You only played 7 teams with a winning record and 4 of those 7 teams were only 9-8. Keep in mind this is when the Saints are supposed to be competing for championships according to the FO.

I think he will be mediocre again next year and isn’t going anywhere. Gayle and the Saints leadership want easy and as little work as possible. He and Willie Green will both be here for 2-3 years.
