Ever wonder why governments are pushing hard for electric vehicles?

They want you to believe it’s for climate change and the environment. Dupes believe that.
It’s about being able to turn off electricity remotely. Can’t do that with gasoline.

And it severely limits travel

They can already do this to your home or business. They also can cut off your internet, freeze your bank accounts and credit cards, disbale your cellphone service, cut your water off and just about anything else they want to do right now.
What is your point again?

You can pour gasoline from a can into a vehicle. EV chargers, particularly public ones, have some sort of connectivity/interface.
"Geekboy, you posted wrong think on the internet yesterday and we don't want your bad attitude to spread amongst the populace, therefore your EV charge is limited to 13.4 miles, just enough to get to work and back."
You'll definitely drive your arse to work to provide labor for the elites, but you won't be driving from your pod in the city out into the countryside to join the rebellion.

it is so much bigger than this. what about electronic money and no hard cash? what may the (un)intended consequences of that? changing the way credit "scores" are formulated?
this makes the power brokers more powerful, and takes away the majority of the control of the people. another unintended consequence is that the entire country becomes only as powerful as the power grid.
these moves are stupid on so many levels.

At this point the govt can turn off most newer ICE vehicles as well if they wanted
All have some sort of connectivity

It is all about control and power.

Anyone paying attention has been knowing this for several years now. So me, personally, no, I don't wonder why. Already know.

I’m not a fan or advocate of evs but doesn’t everyone recall that shut down of that pipeline that carries millions of gallons of gasoline from a couple of years ago ?
Here in BR if the authorities wanted to shutdown the main refinery they could do it by blocking off a few key streets to not allow access to the refinery.
Evs are just a way to wreck the economy.

You can remotely turn off electricity to an oil refinery, dumb arse.

Everything being done is about control, period.

I personally think it’s simply about attempting to create a new energy sector boom. The shot callers are jealous they missed out on oil, so they're trying to force ev, solar, wind, etc. so they can be at the top of the heap when it pops off, even if by decree
ETA the control aspect is lagniappe

I don't have an EV because I tow 20k lbs around the country, but if one of the big three comes out with an electric HD truck with decent towing range, I'll be picking one up.
Conservatives should embrace the self-sufficiency of solar and EVs while strongly opposing the mandates being pushed.

I hear ya, but you can generate electricity yourself, you can't easily produce gasoline.
I have a little cabin in the woods that is powered by a solar panel. It does everything I need. I have a friend at a power company that was working on a micro generation project that offered small hydro generators for people with ponds. We have several ponds with good flow... maybe it's time to test it out.
They will probably require cars to connect to satellite to move, so even if you generate your own power, they will just disable your vehicle remotely anyway. And if you disable the uplink, the car will be programmed to do nothing.

That's going to be hard no from me, dawg...

Probably some combo of climate change, systemic racism, asphalt justice, threat to democracy, common sense disinformation control . . . or other fertilizer.

I support your point but yes the technology to kill your ICE is already in your car…
It is called OnStar in GM vehicles. All the other makers have similar

With the electronics of modern engines, they can shut it off if you don’t make the payments on your vehicle. And I am talking about new vehicles and not older vehicles sold at some shady dealers that are retrofitted with a tracker and immobilizer for the payments.
