i didn't know hate-watching was a thing till this show. i didn't like sh-hulk so i just bailed. i watched 3 minutes of this and quickly realized i didn't want to give it views. then i found a whole genre of hate-watching memes. mainly around velma.

Engagement online means it is "being talked about". Not that anyone watched it. The brag was a deflection from the lack of people watching it, which would be the useful measure of financial success. An especially desperate deflection because the "engagement" was all people trashing the show.

I hate watched Night Country because it was only 6 episodes and I needed to see how they tried to answer the questions. Big mistake. That’s probably a better example than Velma because the season long thread was 99% hate watching by the finale.

I haven’t seen an episode of this show but from what I can tell the consensus is that it’s one of the worst of all time.

Execs today seems to give zero shits if you actually watch their show/movie. They like to see that they are trending and being discussed. This is how Sony was stupid enough to rerelease Morbius in theaters. They saw all the "engagement" and thought that would translate to success.
