I hate a thief. Someone stole my debit card from my hospital room.

Used my card yesterday and I left it out on the dresser like an idiot. Some employee couldn't help themselves and took it. Spent $17 total on concessions and cafeteria. Then tried to spend $430 online at Walmart. But I had my card set to deny any charge above $200 because I was trying to block a recurring payment.
So thankfully it didn't go through. While I'm out the room getting a procedure my phone tells me the bank had a denied charge at Walmart for $430. I get back to my room and the card is gone.
Each transaction has a time stamp so they cab see the exact time the cards were used at the cafeteria.
I made a report with hospital security but haven't called police yet.
I'm just glad they only got so little. The $430 would have sucked.

This should be very easy to find out they have cameras everywhere especially at that register in the cafeteria.

Someone is going to get fired over $17. Just stupid.

Lucky they didn't steal your liver while you were sleeping.

Jailed, too. We are way too nice to thieves in this country.

Imagine losing a decent paying hospital job over stealing $17 and being a thief.
Unless it was a multi room (which I sort of doubt) and then some TPOS visitor snagged it.

Yep, some idiot hospital worker or a passer by. Camera's should show who was in and out of his room.

FIFY
Also, fwiw, it was also attempted theft of $450. Regardless, monumentally stupid to do something like this at a hospital where there are cameras everywhere

Man that sucks. I hope they find out who it was and fire them.
I hate that ppl just cannot be trusted.
Thank gosh you had that setting on it to deny excessive charges.

Are you at EJGH? Same shite happened to me in mid January.
I used my card fron my room and gave Walgreens (in the hospital) my credit card info the afternoon I was to be discharged. A couple of days later, BoA calls wanting to know if I attempted a $99.58 purchase at Saks.
It was either the Xavier pharmacy student I spoke with on the phone or someone in the hallway eavesdropping.

If it was an employee the hospital already knows who it is and I promise you they will be terminated

I worked on a unit in a hospital on Thanksgiving day in the past. The nurses had made a Thanksgiving spread for themselves since they had to work. Someone walked by and stole the bird in the break room, lol

Most thieves are too dumb to support themselves financially, so they have to steal from other people.
