I’ve been defending Jay all season

But I’m starting to wonder if he’s panicking…. I really think he’s a great coach. But I can’t wrap my head around what’s going wrong with this team.
They lost alot of key players: Crews, Skenes, Floyd, Coop, Thompson, Tre, Dugas, Beloso, Jobert….. just to name a few…
And I get that… but why is this team SO bad?
I think a lot of guys expected to step up hasn’t… Maybe it’s more of a club problem, not a coach problem? Idk I’m just trying to make sense of this season.

As frustrating and sad as this year has been I’m confident he will get this turned around. Next year will be better and then we should be rolling.

This team lacks talent and leadership. I think it’s pretty simple

He looks defeated in the dugout

The MAGIC MOMENT is not clicking with this team!

I think he has over thought this season big time. He has tinkered wayyy too much, and no one on the team knows their role nor are they comfortable.

Players just not stepping up, no leadership and disappointing pitching. Hard to turn it around when they just arent good players. Hopefully he turns it around next year.
Kling, Hurd, Pearson, Neal, Travinski. All disappointing.

If next year isn’t better then he is in the Mike Bianco, Chris Lemonis and even Paul seat where if he doesn’t produce his arse is fired.
JJ recruits extremely well and that is half the battle in college. We also have a large nil pool for baseball and a lot of things to sell so we should restock.
JJ isn’t out chasing blondes or not recruiting and trying after a title. Even the great Nick Saban had to win a third NC before he had an unstoppable machine so it can take some time to build the process.
This year is pretty much a Paul left us with talent but a lot of rot and a lot of gaps.
JJ plugged gaps in year 1 with smoke and mirrors and some transfers, year 2 we dominated and this year the Paul/JJ class doesn’t exist and our first true JJ recruiting class hasn’t fully lived up to potential and his second full one is freshman.
Paul had a horrendous year 1 and year 2 was about as bad until we caught fire and then he won the nc but he was a bit ahead of schedule. Then Paul stopped recruiting and we sank in 10 and bottomed out in 11 before we stabalized.
So the answer is I think JJ can right the ship because he does the right things. He didn’t get a divorce and go crazy. However if he doesn’t we replace him and get little Tony in here

Two of these are catchers, yet we have a third that is by far the best behind the plate.
Neal’s bat is not better than Milazzo’s this year, and he has not hit for enough power to negate Milazzo’s defensive advantage.

Milazzo has had his share of issues catching our guys.
None of our catchers have lived up to their billing this year.

Some people just want to go full retard. Everyone is frustrated but anyone that thinks any of this is on Tommy White is a clown.
Posted on 4/16/24 at 7:42 pm to CrawfishElvis
He's squeezing too tight on this thing and the whole team has been playing tight and going for the hero play
Posted on 4/16/24 at 7:45 pm to In The Know
He gets a pass this year.
He swung and missed on pretty much all of his new guys this year. Concerning? Yes.
Obviously if they look like shite next year I cant imagine AD not making a move. I hope that doesn't happen.
Jay Johnson seems like he's all in here.

no leadership
Bingo. Doesn’t appear this team has any vocal leaders and no one can lead by example besides White. We not only lost talent from last years team, we lost all of our leadership. I expected to see that from Millazo and Travinski but it’s been nonexistent.

JJ has this year, next year and likely at least most of the sec portion the following year. If we are bad again next year his seat will be hot and if we have another 3-12 start after missing the post season twice then he is gone.
I would hate to see it because JJ does the right things and he is a grinder. Most of the time that pays off in being successful

at some point, you have to give him his fair share of the blame.
there's a number of guys who haven't developed under Johnson like Kling, Pearson and Neal. Who's fault is that besides Johnson?
there's a bunch of guys he brought in as transfers who haven't moved the needle. Hurd, Jump, Loer, Braswell, Nippolt among others. Berry was fine. Bingham been whatever. Skenes, Cooper and White obviously were home runs.
