Why didn’t Dan Snyder rename his team the bandits or outlaws?

He obviously didn’t want to get rid of redskins (he was right btw). IMHO he missed a great opportunity to troll the politicians and crybabies who made him change. The Washington Bandits or the DC Outlaws sounds good and is an accurate representation of the host city.

i think everybody would have loved this instead of the freaking commanders.

I always felt the other route of changing the logo to a potato leaving the Redskins name would have been perfect.

I'm over the name, but miss those beautiful uniforms.
Wish they had kept these with the new logo in the helmet circle.

The Redskins' uniforms were fantastic.
The Commanders' uniforms are an abomination.

He thought by bowing to the mob, they'd somehow let him keep them.
He didn't play hardball enough. Now he has to buy tickets to see them play just like everybody else.

As a kid, I would love when they'd wear these uniforms at home vs the Cowboys who'd wear their navy tops and silver pants. I can hear Summerall and Madden just looking at this pic.

"Commanders" is the most boring generic nickname in sports. The Cleveland Indians did no better with "Guardians". Absolutely meaningless names. Its a rare opportunity for a marketing exec to rename/name a sports team from one of the big 3 leagues. And they just pissed these opportunities away. Sad

I always wanted the Washington Foreskins.

I thought it would have been nice if they had used the opportunity to highlight their historic rivalry w/ the Vikings by setting up for a Vikings vs. Savages game.

Or
LTFSSB Lying Two Faced Self Serving Bastards or if you want to tone down the language they could be The Washington Congress or Senate.

Already a name for Congress.

Commanders vs. Cowboys. .I mean, the fricking mob ruined something historic (not just in football but America's history.... and every kid playing outside)....Cowboys and Indians.
I really don't think ancestors of Native Americans give a shite (they have bigger problems but the government weighs in on a PR stunt...and now all Natives are all good and prosperous on the Rez because the Washington Football team has changed their name.
I saw a random poll where most Natives loved the Washington Redskins because it kept them relevant and it was their team. America has done a remarkable job of making a people on this Continent, the minority of minorities... No say, no voice in government....(Elizabeth Warren doesn't count of course). At least give Native Americans the Redskins! .The term was never seen by them as a pejorative. In fact there's historical texts that they coined the phrase to describe themselves to white settlers.

ULM used to be NLU and was the Indians. They won a 1-AA Natty with Stan Humphries.
Now they arethe ULM Warhawks..
The name was chosen in honor of Maj. Gen. Claire Chennault, a Waterproof, Louisiana resident. Chennault commanded the American Volunteer Group of pilots during World War II, whose Curtiss P-40 fighter planes were dubbed "Warhawks." per wiki
They have worn these:bad boys.

I actually thought Washington Football Team was a great name.

Because the Outlaws or Bandits sounds like it comes from a cheesy low budget football movie....or anyone of the iterations of an alternative football league

Guardians
They had an infinitely more awesome name, the Cleveland Spiders, right out of their own distant history and they chose.....that, instead.
