Unfortunately, I saw this coming. Nuts > stuff can only work for so long. I knew after the league had seen him for a full year, his 2nd time through would be much more difficult. I still don't think he's this bad, though, and can have a role, but like others have pointed out, he just has zero room for error with what he throws. Nobody has to respect his fastball, and they can just sit off-speed. So, a cutter doesn't cut, a slider hangs, and they get pounded into the bleachers.
I do think his development has been stunted by injury. I think it's kept him from putting on some weight, which would help tremendously. With his frame, he should be able to put on a solid 15-20 pounds. Unfortunately, I don't know that he's healthy enough to put in the work in the gym that that would require. You've got to move heavy weight to gain significant weight, and I think (his back?) injury from high school still lingers a bit and moving that kind of weight puts him at significant risk of re-injury.
he has a ton of low hanging fruit to add tons of velo with weight gain and strength. 1 of the big reasons he keeps getting hurt is those reasons.
but i dont htink the issue with him not gaining weight is the injuries...it starts with a P and ends with a Y. You have to truely want to get bigger and stronger and be willing to put that work in and tell the GF to frick off if she isnt on board with what it takes.

Guidry should be a short stop. I like his attitude as a closer, but I am not sure his stuff is nasty enough to match the confidence.

he’s a ++curve ball guy.
Is he? His breaking ball doesn't move a ton. It's good, not ++. I never saw much in Guidry, even when he had success last year. An ordinary fb and a good slider. That's not going to get you far even if you pitch with confidence, which he does

His future is as a pitcher
If true, he has no future. He should work back in as an infielder. Win win for him and his team.

I can’t figure out why Guidry calls nothing but sliders, like 4 in a row to a leading SEC hitter that already hit a HR. He should know better…….

Guidry is 100 pounds soaking wet trying to throw to sec hitters.
A pitcher's weight is irrelevant. Tim Lincecum was the best pitcher in baseball for several years and weighed 170 pounds

Guidry is a bust. Can’t hit so he’ll never see the field. Helped us in big moments a little last year but the book is out on him.
He throws meatballs and people are taking him yard. Wasted roster spot.

Yes it’s probably the D1 athlete he has been dating since high school……it’s her fault lol

These pitchers don’t call the pitches. Yeskie does. The pitcher can shake off a pitch called by the coach but he better be right. If pitcher shakes off a pitch and the pitch he throws results in shite, he probably will catch it from coaching staff.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Good news is that we do have some decent freshmen but bad news we might be telling players (sophomores/juniors) to take a hike because they didn't develop.

in 39.2 carrer innings, he has 58K's.
That is 13.3K per 9IP.
His stuff isn't elite but 13.3K/9 is. His stuff his plenty, plenty good enough to get SEC hitters out.
His issue this year has been BB. His BB% has nearly doubled.
He's only given up 3 XBH. He's a few tweaks from being fine.

He doesn’t have enough velocity to make it meaningful to sit anything but breaking ball.
He threw 5 straight sliders to Moore, with Moore fouling off 4 before he adjusted his timing. The 6th straight went straight out of that cat litter of a sandbox UT calls a ball field

So is it pitch calls? Lack of execution? Lack of secondary pitches? Combination of all three?

Try him at short and put Alex Millazo behind the plate.

A part of the modern game I hate.

So you feel we have the ability to win 3-2 games?
