What would his response be?

1)players are soft today
2)they have more medicine and do load management but they cant last a full season
3)make alot more money

In football and basketball he would probably be surprised at how much more complex game plans are.

Plus with the NBA leaning so heavily on analytics his mindset would totally have to change to match what we now know about probabilities and what makes offenses efficient.

Guys from the 80s and 90s weren’t babies. The newer generation would get pushed around by the older generation and cry like babies and miss more games. The older generation has a job to do and show up every game. Ask cal ripken

If they were teleported in, there would be issues with most players competing immediately due to new schemes, rules, etc, plus modern health and training regimens.

Many would be able to adapt over time.

Most of these types of discussions believe the old players couldn’t compete today, even if they grew up in the modern era. This is mostly bullshite.

This is the biggest disparity between athletes from today and athletes from the distant past.

Sure players today are a little bigger and faster and coaching, sports medicine and nutrition have improved. But the leap in money is crazy.

I think Mickey Mantle was the first athlete to make $100k and that was in the 60s. A lot of pro athletes had to work offseason jobs.

John Crotty would win multiple MVPs playing in today's game.

I'd LOVE to see Marino with the current offense rules and modern WRs. He was so far ahead of the game, coaches didn't try to emulate they knew their QB could never.

I imagine Anthony Mason jogging back on defense and some little shite PG decides to get right in front of him at half court and stop to try and draw a foul on Mason running up his back, and Mason just levels his arse and falls on top of him with all his body weight, and then laughs as he walks away as the little shite lays there in pain.

We’d then have a 20 minute stoppage in the game for a review, Mason confused the whole time as he doesn’t even think it’s a foul on him, and after two separate commercial breaks the officials confirm 3 guys are ejected along with Mason and Mason’s head explodes in confusion as to what the frick just happened and why he was ejected.

It's all relative and would depend on the sport and position.

I don't think many Offensive and Defensive Linemen from the past would be able to play in today's game with there being a 40-50 lbs swing in size difference. Most skill positions would be fine.

The traditional big men of the past in NBA would probably struggle in modern NBA without being able to shoot. Guards and some forwards would be fine.

Baseball would probably have the most players that could play in modern era.

These guys are definitely too small and unathletic to compete today.
