Donovan at UK would be really interesting. I've seen Jay wrights name tossed around, but he seems like a guy in a similar mold as Hurley; a better fit in the northeast.
Hurley isn't going to leave UConn to go to Kentucky. Like others have said, he's a NE guy and will stay there. Jay Wright isn't coming back to coaching. Billy Donovan is interested, but I don't think he'll be Kentucky's top choice. Oats, Drew, Bruce Pearl, and Donovan are the four candidates whose names have been put out by most reputable reporters. I've also heard they'll reach out to Painter this week.

Beard may be fine at OM in the short term until a blue blood comes calling. I don’t think the Bama job is worth the PR headache you’ll get for jumping ship in conference after just signing an extension.

If UK fans were upset about Cal's NCAAt performances of late, they would not have given Painter the time of day for what he has done at Purdue. It took him 11 seasons to get past the Sweet 16, and he only got there 2 times in his first 11 years. He completely missed the NCAAt 3 times in his first 11 seasons. He has lost in the first round 2 of the last 4 seasons.

If he goes to the NBA it’ll be Billy Donavon 2.0. Billy Donavon would probably be the best coach in College with a handful of National Championships if he would have stayed.

This isn't an apples-to-apples comparison. Since 2016 which is eight tournaments, Purdue (again, Purdue not Kentucky) has gotten:
(1) Five Seed
(2) Four Seeds
(2) Three Seeds
(1) Two Seed
(2) One Seeds
Kentucky has the same number of Final Fours and missed a tournament in the same timeframe. Painter at a less-prestigious school and with lower level recruits has had just as much success as Calipari over the last nine seasons. It makes sense that they would at least reach out. Plus his buyout is a little over $1M, which is easier to knock out than some others.

Billy has been coaching in the NBA for close to ten years, plenty would kill to stay employed for that long in the NBA. I don’t think he has any regrets

I don't think Painter's "unathletic white guy" shtick is going to work for UK.
Plus he's a Purdue alum.

Not saying he has regrets but he could have gone down as the one of the best college coaches of all time. Of course he’s made a lot more money but from a winning standpoint he took a step back in the NBA. He’ll never sniff an NBA championship

Izzo said recently that NIL/portal is what really drove off guys like K and Wright. I always wanted to see Wright coach the 76ers. Ultimate philly guy move.
While I understand the griping about the portal, the NIL stuff is crocodile tears at the big school. Without NIL, you have bagmen and recruits' uncles getting paid to do a job where they never show up.

He aint going to Kentucky UConn is a great basketball school and he's about to win 2 National titles in a row. UConn will throw the kitchen sink at him to stay

Reasons for Dan Hurley to leave UConn for UK:

Roy was going home to his Alma mater. Which happened to be a historic blue blood.
Hurley would be dumb to leave UConn.
