Curious if anyone has an uplifting show or documentary they have seen lately.

On Netflix or Prime.
A lot of shows are dark or have a negative feel to them for the most part.
Looking for something that hits me in the feels or a feel good movie/show/documentary.

Magic for Humans and the just released The Magic Pank Show with Justin Willman. Just light-hearted fun.

Not new, but my favorite uplifting documentary of all time is "Searching for Sugar Man." It's on Prime but you have to rent it for $3.60.

I don’t remember if it’s Prime or Apple, but Come From Away sounds like it could be right up your alley
It’s a musical, but you don’t need to be a particular fan of musicals to enjoy it. Just need to love the resilience of the human spirit and you’ll be into it.
Highly recommend
Quick summary: A tiny town on the northeast coast of Canada has to take in thousands of passengers when dozens of flights are grounded there after 9/11. The size of the town essentially doubles, stretching resources to their limit. The plot follows the story of a select handful of passengers, crew, and townspeople as everyone tries to find a way to make it through the craziness while also working to process the tragedy.
Heavy topic obviously, but the story is very uplifting. It’s ultimately a coming together story

Can always throw on Planet Earth. Attenborough is always a pleasure to listen to.
Or
Ted Lasso

As brutal as Dear Zachary is, I find the end with the parents pretty uplifting. Not recommending it here, just saying.
King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters is sort of uplifting.
Magic and Bird: A Courtship of Rivals is great.
Free Solo was fairly uplifting, even if it’s intense as frick.
Won’t You Be My Neighbor (Mr. Rogers) is uplifting. But I love that dude. So I’m biased.
I find things like Planet Earth sort of uplifting, if a series is what you’re looking for. I love those.
I’m sure there are more if I sat down and really thought about it.
ETA: The Rescue is also great. I second that one for sure.

My mate Paul loves it

The Rescue is one of the best documentaries I've ever seen, same director as Free Solo. It's about rescuing those Thai kids that got trapped in a flooded cave.
Think it's on Disney+ though because it's a national geographic film. Highly recommend.

Good answer.
I thought Wonka was a very positive and affirming movie.
It’s not my jam, but my youngest has been watching Young Sheldon and it seems to have a very positive vibe to it.
Cunk on Earth was fantastic. The scene where she dives into Islam and then loses her notes was honestly one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a very long time. I laughed for the entirety of the blank screen and had to pause it still.

I have to second both of these. Both are incredible!

What We Did On Our Holiday

In a nutshell Comical, Feel-good, and Touching
While visiting family in the Scottish Highlands, a troubled couple (Rosamund Pike, David Tennant) try to put on a happy face, but their three children innocently reveal all of their biggest secrets.

I always remember that movie because it was the first movie partially shot on an iPhone to win an Oscar. For seme reason I got the impression initially it was all shot on an iPhone but later found it is was just the parts he filmed after running out of money the rest was Super 8.
Great movie and an interesting story.

If I need something funny and light I’ll always watch comedians in cars getting coffee
