Entitled Veteran Thinks Laws Don't Apply To Him

On November 14th, 2023. An officer was called to the airport regarding a man who refused to pay for his tab at a bar. When speaking to the manager he said that he refused to pay because he's a veteran, the officer then spoke to the man and he started to get hostile after refusing to listen to the officer's commands. After trying to explain to him that he did not pay for his tab, he tried to say that he paid with his credit, but did not have a receipt or anything to prove his claim. He also stated that he's an ex-marine and kept asking "have you ever been to war?". The man eventually realized he did not pay for the tab and apologized for causing a scene, he then agreed to pay for it. However, when walking to the bar, he started to get confrontational again with the officer and kept asking if they'd ever been to war, eventually leading to the officers taking him down. This is the body-cam footage of the events that followed.

Is he really a Marine, and if so, did he really see combat? A lot of people lie about that shite.

I'll bet he's either...
1) not a veteran
Or
2) a veteran but never saw combat

Thought this was gonna be a thread about Richie Suarez.

I know it is some what taboo to say but not all Veterans are good people. I served with a few that were total pieces of shite. Even the nobliest of professions have their percentage of bad people.

Thankful I'm a jovial drunk and not a "have you ever been to war" drunk.

Wouldn’t a real marine have said former marine not ex-marine?

I've never heard any marine call themselves an "ex marine". Those guys are pretty adamant about "once a marine, always a marine". I'm betting he's lying.
I knew a guy that used to talk about being in Vietnam. Claimed he had ptsd from the war. I mentioned that to his brother in law who laughed at me and said the guy never served in the military period, much less went to Vietnam and that he was like 12 at the height of the war.

It was not that long ago that this jerk would have been on his face on the ground within the first 3 minutes. He threatened that officer early on. Back in the day, you would have been eating concrete just for that. Sucks being a cop these days.

There are no "ex Marines", Once a Marine Always a Marine.

Evry Marine I know would NEVER say they are an "Ex-Marine".
They hang on to the idea that once a Marine, always a Marine.
See I should have read more responses first. This point has been well made already.

It's a good gig if you can get it. I know of a couple rather high profile female veterans who have done very well for themselves by publicly cultivating personas that are kinda-sorta-but-not-really "based on a true story."
But nobody can set the record straight because then they'd be "attacking" A) a veteran and B) a woman veteran. Both are sacred and unassailable. You just have to believe them and give them whatever they want.
One claims (via never correcting others when they write a story or introduce her as):
Fighter pilot
Deployed on a special mission with SOCOM/JSOC
Was wounded by an explosion while on mission with her team
Saw a lot of death on the battlefield
Undiagnosed TBI/PTSD
Reality:
Was involved with aircraft, but not a pilot
Was an acquisitions officer, one time, for a deployed SOCOM unit
A rocket hit the base she was on (Bagram)
The injury was unwitnessed and she did not miss duty
Only knew later on that she had TBI/PTSD from the blast when her marriage and personal life were falling apart
The other:
SWO in the Navy
Claims she was a rescue swimmer, a male dominated field comparable to Navy SEALs
Suffered a head injury while on a combat deployment
TBI/PTSD
Reality:
Was never in a Rescue Swimmer billet, but was just one of the people on the ship designated to help in a man-overboard situation
Head injury was from bumping her head after falling down a hatch
Is now a TBI/PTSD advocate and parlayed all that into an Ivy league graduate education and all sorts of other shite

I like when society gives special privileges to vets. I feel icky when I see a vet attempting to gain (or worse DEMAND) privileges because he is a vet

How much was the tab? If it’s under $50 I’m looking at the guy and saying Ty for your service I’ll pay it. Don’t even want to deal with that shite.

I'm a veteran(Army).... rarely ever bring it up unless it's a discount involved
