Iowa - South Carolina final breaks record; most watched women’s game.

Yeah Iowa-SC got 18.7 million eyeballs.
Clarks last game... plus it being a FF rematch of #1 seeds...plus, being aired on ABC not cable.

It will be real interesting to see how much these numbers drop next year without Caitlin Clark. Yeah women's basketball is on the rise, but how much? The previous championship high recently was 5 mil before last year. The product has gotten better but still a long ways to go.

Iowa vs Uconn was the most watched Basketball game EVER (men or womens) on ESPN.
uh, it was also on ABC. Those ratings are combined, and still NOT the most watched college basketball game ever
That honor goes to the Larry Bird led Indiana St vs the Magic Johnson led Michigan St. The game had a 24 share, with over 35 million viewers. Before ESPN, TBS or TNT were even a thing

I don’t wanna play race card here but it is what it is. A white girl or white guy out there schooling folks in basketball will always move the needle considering 65~70% of the country is still white.

Media created a narrative to draw attention to the game.
They had to have a good guy, bad guy scenario, but without Clark, things will return to normal.

The number of viewers seems to have been more related to Caitlin Clark than any of the fake Mulkey-media conspiracies drummed up on this site. 18.7 million for the final. 14.2 million for Iowa- UConn. 12.3 million Iowa-LSU.

Cool for the ladies that their sport is becoming more popular. The high level games are definitely watchable and enjoyable when nothing better is on.

A lot of people watched that Iowa SC game. Maybe the attendance wasn’t high, but it was a success for women’s basketball for sure.

Attendance doesn’t mean anything. It’s all about the people watching on TV.
