i almost mentioned her in this thread. i used to have the magnolia soundtrack and about a year ago i realized i hadn't heard it in ages and grabbed it and wow. great soundtrack.

also discovered she is still actively releasing GREAT music.

Also gotta give my canadian beau some love.

Jane Siberry is DEFINITELY one of the most unsung female artists of the 80s.

Life is the Red Wagon

While most people may know her from the Calling All Angels duet with KD Lang, I fell in love with her after hearing the "Map of the World Part II" CD..namely Mimi on the Beach which the video seems to have been largly lost..just this one low-quality rip on YT.

Bound by the Beauty is soooooo underrated. Great album that just dropped off the radar but its one of those where every track melds seamlessly and enjoyable from start to finish.

Also, even though she only had one 'breakthrough' song, I freaking LOVED Danielle Dax. Why didn't she make it big?

Big Hollow Man

Damn what a song.

Lets give it up for Fraulein, Nina Hagen.

She was channeling the Siouxsie vibe around the same time and had at least 2 "bangers" to quote the kids today.

I believe that's Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins.

Crank up your stereo and put this on

Cocteau Twins - Fotzepolitic

That will get your blood pumping.

HoLV is my favorite Cocteau Twins album and I know that's probably not a popular opinion among 'purists'.

And I have EVERYTHING they released including the limited edition singles box set which is sitting behind me as I speak.

Maria McKee of Lone Justice—a country tinged rock band. She later went onto a decent solo career in the 90s. Lone Justice’s first album and her first two solo albums were great.

Debora Iyall from Romeo Void

Her voice combined with the sax and bass that were prominently featured was a magical combination.

Yeah, but she's famously reclusive and her band doesn't tour that often, so I figured she fit the "flew under the radar" category. Plus she's classy fine and I wanted to post a picture of her.

I had totally forgotten about Yaz!

One of my absolute faves from the 80's. loved the Upstairs at Eric's album.

...and Dale Bozzio from Missing Persons.

Yes, they had some big hits at the time, but they seem to be a forgotten band who put out a fantastic album in Spring Session M.
